Shazhong Site is located in Xiaonan Village Group, Xiaoying Village, Mali Township, 30 kilometers northwest of Huaibin County. A small river ditch surrounds the northern end of the site from west to east. The site is located on the vast alluvial plain, across the Red River, a tributary of Huaihe River, facing Cai County in Zhumadian area.

The site is a flat platform, 80 meters wide from north to south, 20 meters wide from east to west on average, about 5 meters above the surrounding ground, and the cultural layer is about 5 meters thick. The local people named this "sand dune" because the soil on the platform is as loose as sand.
