What did Liu Bowen say when he told Hu about his fortune-telling?

As the saying goes: "Three points of landlite, Liu Bowen unified; Zhuge Liang, a former militarist, and Liu Bowen, a later militarist ",here refers to two famous counselors in ancient China, Zhuge Liang and Liu Bowen.

Compared with Zhuge Liang, Liu Bowen may be less famous and legendary, but he helped Zhu Yuanzhang accomplish the great cause of reunification. From this perspective, it can be said that he has achieved higher achievements than Zhuge Liang. What is commendable is that resourceful Liu Bowen knows the truth of being a master of Gao Zhen. Shortly after the establishment of the Ming Dynasty, he resigned and retired to his hometown.

However, although Liu Bowen voluntarily gave up fame and fortune, only drank and played chess all day, and made no mention of his contribution in those years, he still failed to avoid the fate of being killed. In March of the eighth year of Hongwu (1375), Liu Bowen died of cold at home at the age of 65. In fact, the real cause of his death may be the medicine prescribed by the doctor when Hu saw a doctor. Then, why did Hu insist on killing Liu Bowen when he had resigned and retired?

First of all, we can see the record of this matter in the Ming History, which reads: "In the Imperial History, Cheng Liuji also tasted his short words. After a long illness, the emperor sent him to a doctor, so he poisoned him. " There is nothing to be afraid of when you are dead. "That is to say, Liu Bowen once pointed out the shortcomings of Hu as an imperial minister, which is also reflected in another part of the book.

When Zhu Yuanzhang wanted to set up a new prime minister, he asked Liu Bowen if he could reuse Hu. In this regard, the latter replied: "If you analogy, you will be afraid of its shackles." This means that the prime minister is like a horse riding a horse. If Hu Lai plays this role, he may cause the carriage to overturn.

Liu Bowen confessed this matter and returned to his hometown to live in seclusion. A few years later, Zhu Yuanzhang heard that he had caught a cold, so he sent Hu to visit with his physician. It was this opportunity that Hu was able to secretly poison Liu Bowen and accelerate his death. As for Hu's psychological state after Liu Bowen's death, the history books describe it as "being helpful and outspoken". That is to say, although Liu Bowen was alive, Hu was already arrogant, but he was still nervous. This may be because on the one hand, he is worried that Liu Bowen will continue to point out his faults to Zhu Yuanzhang and even expose his behavior; On the other hand, I am worried that when Zhu Yuanzhang made a mistake, he would decisively recall Liu Bowen to replace himself.

Judging from the fragments of the above history books, there are probably two reasons why Hu insisted on killing Liu Bowen: First, Liu Bowen once criticized him, which may lead him to hold a grudge and want revenge; Second, even if Liu Bowen lives in seclusion in the mountains, he still occupies a high position in Zhu Yuanzhang's heart, so if he doesn't get rid of it, his position will never be consolidated.

In addition, in fact, what Zhu Yuanzhang did after Liu Bowen's illness was also very suspicious-he knew that Hu and Liu Bowen had a bad relationship, but sent them to visit, and provided them with a chance to lay hands on them.

It is true that Hu was the prime minister at that time. Letting him go can show the court's attention and concern for Liu Bowen, but it has to remind people of Zhu Yuanzhang's ruthless cleaning up of the founding heroes, and it is doubtful that Liu Bowen's death was inspired by Zhu Yuanzhang and Hu.

It is said that after taking the medicine provided by Hu, Liu Bowen "accumulated a stone-like thing in his stomach". To this end, he also wrote to Zhu Yuanzhang, expressing that he felt strange after taking the medicine, but the latter disagreed and only asked him to take good care of himself. This perfunctory attitude of Zhu Yuanzhang is in sharp contrast with his previous respect for Liu Bowen, which makes people feel a little abnormal.

However, judging from the fact that Liu Bowen told his son Mclynn Killman Liu to present Tian Wen Document to Zhu Yuanzhang before he died, and said that he would write a letter to Zhu Yuanzhang, but he gave up because Hu was still in power, he still had respect and loyalty to Zhu Yuanzhang, which seems to indicate that his death had little to do with Zhu Yuanzhang.

It is also worth noting that Zhu Yuanzhang punished Li Shanchang's mistake, but Liu Bowen dissuaded him on the grounds that he worked hard and could reconcile the relationship between generals. In this regard, Zhu Yuanzhang was shocked and asked: "Is it you who want to kill you, and you are the place?"

Visible, Li Shanchang has tried to harm Liu Bowen many times, and the relationship between them is bad. As we know, Hu became prime minister by Li Shanchang's promotion and recommendation, and they have a very obvious interest community relationship, which is why Zhu Yuanzhang killed Li Shanchang after Hu's fall.
