The site of Yuantong Temple is located in Zengjiagou, a cluster of mountains in the southwest of Yunyang Economic Development Zone, adjacent to zhang wan, Maojian and Qingshan Town in Yunyang District. It is opposite to Changsheng Trade City and Shiyan high-speed railway station, on the coordinate where Shiyan Avenue intersects with the planned Shiyan Expressway. With an average elevation of 500 meters, the forest is dense, the mountains are lush, the valleys are moist, and the Tian Quan gushes. Kowloon veins linger, surrounded by mountains, stretching; More than a dozen scenes were presented frankly, and the valley was over, or hidden or obvious, and the yin and yang were divided, and the clouds were rolling and the clouds were comfortable. The annual average temperature is about 20 degrees, with four distinct seasons. There is no heat, no drought or flood, and there are wild fruits everywhere. The green hills are evergreen all the year round, the green waters are evergreen all the year round, the thrush in the valley is twittering, the magpies are chirping in the branches, the frogs are chirping, the cicadas are chirping, the grass snakes are infested, the centipede probes, and the water plants are growing. Mountain people are scattered on the flat slopes of depressions, or farming or breeding, and live comfortably. Chashan Chaoyang, with green shoots, was once exclusive to the government; The foot of the mountain is an ancient post road, so it has the name of tea shop, where four businessmen talk about tea. Standing on the first step overlooking Shiyan, the ancient scenery suddenly came into view. The canal weir soup and rice waves rolled, and the beautiful land of Nanping was endless.

In the open place of the peak, there are crumbling ruins, adobe and bricks, which barely form the corners on both sides of the square. The columns and beams are decadent, isolated and helpless, and there are several tiles, which are endless. There are only five or six old houses for survivors, but the houses up and down and around are very calm, and the big scene of that year is vaguely bright. After liberation, it used to be a school building and a cattle farm.

In Tang Lihua's "Hanging the Ancient Battlefield", "gloomy and miserable, the wind is sad. The phrase "birds don't fly, animals don't die" seems to describe the present situation of Yuantong Temple. On the servant's side, there is an ancient monument with a square meter, which is hidden among thorns and vines. After careful rubbing by Mr. Xing, a local expert in literature and history, we can see the details of the inscription. Yuantong Temple was rebuilt in the Tianshun period of Daming, and this monument was erected in Hongzhi 13. At that time, the abbot was Foyi, and the chief abbot was Fokuan and Fohai. It is clear on the tablet that the temple was built in the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty, which was a supplement to Daxing Temple in the Liang Dynasty and also originated from a grateful fantasy trip of Emperor Taizong. Inscription: Emperor Taizong's beloved princess suffers from eye diseases. It is very unusual to cure too much, and it needs the blood of Bailuyuan to make the finishing touch. Emperor Taizong told Wei Chijingde Shuaijun to go to Zhong Nanshan to look for White Deer, and the general was ordered to go. In the mountains of Qianshan, he saw an elf-like white fog floating in the wind, fluttering in the clouds, crossing Qinba, entering the bottom of Hanshui River, followed by Wei Chi and other soldiers, heading to Zengjiagou in Hannan to shoot Bailuyuan, so he was rushed to Chang 'an. The blood of White Deer Plain and Swan Hair is too medical to cure the eye disease of Taizong Aifei, and it will be fine in a few days. Emperor Taizong was greatly moved by the curative effect, so he remembered the auspicious landing of Bailuyuan and ordered the construction of Yuantong Temple in Zengjiagou.

Yuantong Temple built this mountain because of this.

Why not name Bailu Temple to commemorate the virtues of Bailuyuan, but Tong Yuan?

This is the focus of Buddhist temples. Round and perfect, universal and barrier-free. "Tong Yuan" is a perfect and universally accessible realm, that is, the realm of consciousness, which greatly contains the gratitude to Taizong.

The forty-six volumes of Sanzang Buddhism say: "The body of nature is everywhere, and its wonderful use is unimpeded. It is the source of all sentient beings and the holy land witnessed by all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas." If we are ordinary people, we can remember our mother's childhood mood and inherit the six-character flood name. People who are complacent and open-minded are also people who follow the crowd. When the general trend reaches the bodhisattva, the Buddha will be smooth. This is the human law. The Shurangama Sutra also explains "Tong Yuan": Tong Yuan is a kind of Buddhism, which has 25 achievements, such as six roots, six dust, six senses and seven great achievements. You can get four sacred fruits: bodhisattva, solitude, predestination and sound. From the point of view of Zengjiagou, this place extends in all directions, intersects the north and the south, runs through from top to bottom, and hires water according to the mountains, which can be described as the wit of the world.

In view of the above, the name "Yuantong Temple" is deeply rooted.

Tong Yuan belongs to Guanyin Bodhisattva Dojo, which is a spiritual highland for people to pray for peace. Tong Yuan is also one of the 32 dharma names of Guanyin, which means to understand and begin to understand. Why is Guanyin also called Tong Yuan? According to Buddhist classics, Guanyin is the root of the ear, that is, six roots, that is, a so-called prime minister: eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and heart. Guanyin bodhisattva can hear the cry for help of suffering, so she can see it with her eyes, hence the name Guanyin. Tong Yuan is a synonym for Guanyin, which means "impartial and unimpeded", completely accessible, ubiquitous and accommodating. The truth realized by wisdom is perfect in essence, free in function, and acts on everything, so it is Tong Yuan. Repetition, also called wit, achieves truth or practice with wisdom. Among the twenty-five saints in the Shurangama Sutra, the root of Guanyin is Tong Yuan, so it is also called Tong Yuanzun and Master Tong Yuan. That is to say, to prove Samadhi, to break the Liuhe with Samadhi, to return to a smart, no complex roots, internal and external tact, mutual roots, physical and mental obstacles, director obstacles, is the name Tong Yuan. Samadha means suffering, that is, when the wisdom of abstinence has reached a perfect state, and the wisdom of abstinence is equal, pure and equal, then we will be able to get rid of the dreamland produced by six evils, and achieve the state that things are forgotten by people, without extra-legal meaning and mental disorder, just like a pure glass, which contains Bao Yue and six evils are no longer the source of trouble, so that we can understand that everything in the world is Bodhi, with wonderful mind and refinement. All roots are methods that can change the realm and are no longer changed by the realm. If you can change the realm, you will be the same as Tathagata, with a round body and mind, and you will not move the Dojo. At this time, sex will be the same, reason will be the same, body and mind will be fast and stable, reaching the only realm of provable law and the realm of perfect Buddha. The circle is perfect, but the general law is different.

Yuantong Temple was built by the emperor with grand regulations. It faces south and covers an area of more than 65,438+000 mu. The building spans a vast hillside. For thousands of years, there have been memorial archways, Heavenly King Hall, Ursa Major Hall, Guanyin Pavilion and Sutra Pavilion. The ancient trees in the temple are towering, vigorous and tall, and flourishing. The architecture in the temple is classical and magnificent, and the Buddha statue is solemn and kind. You can feel the aura of Guanyin Dojo in the Lotus Buddha country everywhere. Accompanied by Buddhist architecture are classical garden buildings, small bridges and flowing water, lotus fountains, rockery caves and towering pavilions.

There are three stone pagodas in the square in front of the temple, with the words "Yuantong Temple" engraved in the middle, and couplets on both sides: "Bai Fan bells are silent and comfortable, and the red maple fish and fire dust brake to see the Buddha", which combines Buddhist philosophy and Yunyang landscape. Inside the archway, there is a plaque "Returning to the Shore", written by a great scholar in the Song Dynasty, which is vigorous and powerful and penetrates the mountain gate.

Passing through the archway and entering the mountain gate along the central axis, it is the Temple of the King of Heaven. In the center of the hall, Maitreya, a naked and smiling Buddha, is enshrined. Behind Maitreya Bodhisattva, Wei Tuo Bodhisattva, dressed in armor and holding a diamond pestle, has a strong desire to protect and educate. The four heavenly kings are the good gods who protect Buddhism, namely, the king in the East, the king in the South, the king with wide eyes in the West and the king who listens to more in the North. They each hold instruments symbolizing the good weather and the safety of the country and the people to protect Buddhism and defend the country.

When you walk out of the king's temple, you can see a plaque that says "Three Continents Sensation", which is the holy land of Wei Tuo Bodhisattva. "Three continents" are the three continents around Xumi Mountain, namely Dongsheng Shenzhou, Nanzhan Buzhou and Xiniu Huozhou. Wei Tuo Bodhisattva, instructed by the Buddha, guards the three continents, east, west, north and south, goes forward bravely and practices diligently, and will eventually achieve Buddhism and Taoism.

Out of the palace, there are bell and drum towers on both sides. Right in the middle is the Hall of Great Heroes, dedicated to three generations of Tathagata. In the middle is the Buddha of Sakyamuni, on the left is the pharmacist of the East, and on the right is Amitabha, which is solemn and sacred.

Behind the temple is Aoyu Island, with 32 clay sculptures to be painted vividly and 53 talented people to participate in meditation. Above the back door of Daxiong Hall, there is a plaque of "Cihang Purdue". The release pond behind the temple, which passes through the arch bridge of the release pond, is the "Guanyin Pavilion". Guanyin Pavilion is a two-story building with Guanyin carved from camphor wood. Temples and gardens are integrated, reflecting each other and complementing each other. Purple smoke fills the air and Sanskrit sounds.

There are open-air golden jade Guanyin statue, lotus pond, lotus pond, waiting moon building, cloister, waterside pavilion, dry boat, tea room, faithful reception room, Jiuqu stone bridge, lake pavilion, Cixiao pavilion, fake cave, exotic flowers and herbs garden, and golden turtle pond in the landscape area of Yuantong Temple West Park.

Thousands of years of incense are flourishing, and there are countless believers in a hundred miles. Yuantong Temple has a long-standing reputation. In the past, villages and towns were named after Tong Yuan. For example, today's tea shops, Mao Ping, Changgangling and Dalingshan were under the jurisdiction of Bao in ancient times.
