During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, there was a man named Yuan Lefan in the south of the Yangtze River. When Mr. Fan was young, he met an old man in Ciyun Temple. The old man is proficient in fortune telling. Mr. Fan provided his horoscope to his elders and approved it in detail for life.

The old man calculated that Mr. Fan was ranked 14 in the county examination, 7 1 in the government examination and 9 th in the Jinshi examination in the second year, and concluded that Mr. Fan could not be promoted to the first place, so he could only be a junior official for three years. By the time he was 53 years old and had no children, he would finally go to bed on August 14.

In the second year, Mr. Fan really won the 14, and in the next 20 years, the old man's good or bad calculation was completely fulfilled. From then on, Mr. Fan was convinced that everything was predestined and resigned.
