geology

Wendeng is located in the east of the second uplift of New China and the center of Wenrong uplift. Due to long-term uplift, the Jurassic strata of Mesoproterozoic-Mesozoic were missing.

The general characteristics are: simple geology, extensive distribution of magmatic rocks and undeveloped structure. The stratum is dominated by the metamorphic rock series of the second rock group of Jiaodong Group in Lower Proterozoic, and the Quaternary sediments are distributed all over the territory, including alluvial, diluvial, residual and marine sediments.

The fold is simple, and the northern Wangtuan area is an inverted anticlinorium, which belongs to the middle section of the inverted anticlinorium from Rushan City to Huancui District of Weihai City, with an axial direction of about 45, and the axial plane tends to the southeast. Influenced by the Kunyu Mountain rock mass, the syncline axis bends and the middle part protrudes to the northwest. Nangaocun and Houjia areas are monoclinal structures.

Due to the intrusion of Weideshan, Zijinshan and other rock masses, it is not only discontinuous with the northern strata, but also uncoordinated in occurrence, forming a wide and gentle monoclinal structure that inclines and protrudes to the south.

There are not many faults in the territory, and there are four larger ones: Muzhuhe fault, which extends in the north-south direction, is 40 kilometers long and 50 ~ 100 meters wide; The Luo Xiao-Huadao fault is 10km long and10 ~ 20m wide; Zeku fault, parallel to Luo Xiao-Huadao fault, is 4.5 kilometers long and several meters wide; The fault from Xizicheng to Zhang Zishan extends to Rongcheng, with a total length of 14 km and a width of several meters. The epicenter of destructive earthquakes in history is not in Wendeng.
