The origin of the Temple Fair in Wolonggang In the 12th year of the founding of Shu Han Dynasty (234), Zhuge Liang died of illness in the army. Therefore, Huang Quan led his people and Nanyang scholars to worship in the temple of Gengwu Hou in Wolonggang, Nanyang, which was the first time to worship Wuhou. Later, Nanyang scholars offered sacrifices here. In the Tang Dynasty, Wollongong, Nanyang, as a scenic spot, became famous all over the world. In the fourth year of Yuanyou (13 15), Zhuge Liang Temple in Wolonggang, Nanyang was officially designated as "Wuhou Temple" by the court. In the seventh year of Jiajing in Ming Dynasty (1528), the imperial court gave Nanyang Wuhou Temple the imperial edict of "offering sacrifices to ZhongWuhou Temple", further clarifying the provisions of offering sacrifices to the Japanese. Later, the court sent Ma Xu and Jason Wu to offer sacrifices at the Wuhou Temple in Nanyang. Since then, the activities of offering sacrifices to Zhuge Liang all over the country have followed this system.

With the official, social and private sacrificial activities of Wuhou Temple in Wolonggang gradually grand, many commercial activities are integrated into it. From the initial cooperative sacrifice activity, it has gradually developed into the custom of "temple fair" in Nanyang, which is characterized by "praying to the gods and having fun with the scholars", and has extensive public participation, social influence and mass base.
