What does the calculation in PS mean?

The calculation in photoshop is usually used for channel applications: two of the red, green and blue can calculate the black and white Alpha channel layer, and the Alpha layer can be recalculated many times with other red, green and blue.

The purpose of calculation is to establish the selection area.
