Wenchang Palace in Qujing, also known as Wenchang Gong Xue, is the largest and most influential official-run "academy" in Qujing in Qing Dynasty, that is, a "school" for giving lectures and reading. In ancient times, Wenchang Palace was a place where temples and learning were integrated. It is not only a palace dedicated to Wenchang God, but also a place for education and enlightenment.

Qujing Gong Yuan, the "examination room", is called the "experimental shed" by the common people, and it is the place where the country selects talents. In the imperial examination era, after passing the county examination, the Jinshi from various counties in Qujing went to Gong Yuan in Qujing to take the official examination and the imperial examination. The pilot (i.e. scholar) went to the provincial capital to take the provincial examination, and the candidate (i.e. juren) went to Beijing to take the final examination and palace examination.
