Fortune Telling Collection - Comprehensive fortune-telling - Suzaku and Phoenix
Suzaku and Phoenix
Suzaku, one of the "Four Elephants" in China's traditional culture, has been a beast representing seven nights in the south since the pre-Qin period. In the Han Dynasty, the theory of five elements rose, and people still regarded Suzaku as the representative of Ding Bing and Summer.
The earliest cultural relic record about Suzaku is the lacquer box of the tomb of Zeng Houyi of the Warring States period unearthed in Sui County, which records the most complete names of 28 stars for the first time, and Suzaku is also listed as one of the "four elephants"; The earliest documentary record is Qu Yuan's "Songs of the South": "The flying Zhu bird is the pioneer and drives the Taiyi statue."
Suzaku, among the 28 stars, represents the seven-night beast in the south. Where did the word beast come from? First of all, 28 hotels, also known as 28 homes, or 28 stars. In ancient China, in order to observe the astronomical phenomena and the orbits of the sun, moon and five stars (ancient Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn), the 28-star official was selected (in ancient China, the stars in the sky were grouped together and named. As a sign of observation, this constellation is called "Twenty-eight Hostels". Twenty-eight lodgings were recorded in Shu Wei's Shangshu Kao Ling Yao in the Han Dynasty: "Twenty-eight lodgings are full of vitality and the essence of all things. Therefore, the Oriental Corner, Kang, Bian, Fu, Heart, Tail and Basket are seven nights, and their shape is like a dragon, which is called Zuo Qinglong. Nanjing, Ghost, Willow, Star, Zhang, Wing and Bird stayed for seven nights, which looked like quail birds and were called' former Suzaku'. In the west, there are Wei Xiao, Lou, Wei, Chang, Bi, Gou and Shen for seven nights, which are shaped like tigers and called' right white tigers'. North, fighting, cows, women, emptiness, danger, rooms and walls are seven nights. Shaped like a tortoise and snake, it is called' post-Xuanwu'. " Earlier, it was recorded in the Book of Rites Quli Shang: "Before the trip, the Zhu bird is Xuanwu, while the Zuo Qinglong is right." At the same time, in Taoism's view, stars are also star gods, and the "four elephants" synthesized by twenty-eight lodges are more respected by Taoism. Suzaku, as one of the "four elephants", is naturally among the beasts.
Let's say Phoenix, Phoenix, the male is Phoenix, the female is Phoenix, and it is male and female like Kirin.
In ancient China, the phoenix was the king of birds, and like the dragon, it was the totem of the Han nationality, and was often symbolized as auspicious.
The earliest cultural relics about Phoenix were unearthed in Hemudu culture in Yuyao, Zhejiang about 6700 years ago. Carved images with double bird patterns on ivory bones should be the earliest record of ancient phoenix, and the earliest literature record about phoenix is in Shangshu Yiji: "Xiao Shaojiucheng, Feng Di came to the instrument." According to myths and legends, the phoenix evolved from the bird totem of the Yin people in the East.
Phoenix, like dragon, has experienced a complex evolution. There is such a record about phoenix in Shan Hai Jing that "there are birds, like chickens, and they are called Phoenix Emperor." There is even a record of eating, "Wild West Sutra": "In the wild, the eggs of phoenix birds are food and dew is water." Syndrome Materia Medica: "The kingdom of heaven eats eggs, and native people eat eggs." In Song Dynasty, Fengsui was listed as one of the eight treasures. But in the end, before and after the forest, there was a deer, a snakehead, a turtle's back and a swallow's beak, which became a sacred object composed of a variety of birds and animals. After the Qin and Han Dynasties, the dragon gradually became the symbol of the emperor, and the concubines in the harem began to call themselves phoenixes. The image of the Phoenix is gradually feminized, and the whole is "feminine".
As far as what the author wants to express is concerned, it is the Five Elements of Justice written by Xiao Ji in Sui Dynasty. In the book, Xiaoji thinks that Phoenix is the descendant of Suzaku, which is different from what most of us know now. At present, we generally think that Suzaku is a kind of phoenix, but is Suzaku really related to phoenix? This should be a matter of opinion, because even the ancients linked them. Today, naturally, we can't jump to the conclusion that they really have nothing to do with each other, but I don't agree with the statement that Suzaku is descended from the phoenix.
Suzaku is one of the "Four Elephants", one of the "Four Spirits of Heaven" and is regarded as the "patron saint". Judging from the above series of records about the 28 stars, it is not an exaggeration to say that Suzaku is a god beast in the sky, and the phoenix is more of an auspicious symbol. Although it is also regarded as one of the "four spirits", it is one of the "four spirits" in the Book of Rites, compared with Suzaku.
Many people think that Suzaku is a descendant of Phoenix, and it is more influenced by today's network fantasy novel. However, online novels are only the product of the evolution of the present era, and there is an irreparable gap compared with the traditional culture of China. Moreover, Phoenix and Suzaku are two important contents in the ancient traditional culture of China. Therefore, we still regard China's ancient cultural relics and documents as the correct channel to understand Suzaku and Phoenix.
Of course, the author only discusses the status of Suzaku and Phoenix from one angle. Welcome to discuss from different angles.
