Master Ji Qun: How do you view the relationship between metaphysics and Buddhism?

Q: I study metaphysics, involving geomantic omen, six hexagrams, eight diagrams, physiognomy and so on. How to treat the relationship between metaphysics and Buddhism in Zhouyi?

Master Ji Qun replied: I know nothing about Zhouyi, but from the perspective of Buddhism, I don't completely deny geomancy and equality, but I just oppose becoming a monk and watching geomancy, especially for making a living, which is absolutely forbidden by the precepts. Because Buddhism emphasizes cause and effect, it advocates that "there is bitterness in the cause, and there is fate in the fruit." If you want to change your destiny, you must start from the heart and the place, so that you can solve the problem from the source. For the past karma, we should accept it frankly, rather than deliberately escape it by any means.

As for feng shui fortune telling, it's not nonsense. Because the world is the origin, different environments will form different smells, which will have an impact on residents, and there are certain rules to follow. As for the accuracy of fortune telling, it depends on whether the operator can master this rule through the correct method, and also depends on the operator's mind, ability and usage.

On the other hand, Buddhism also tells us that it has deep roots. Fortune telling or geomantic omen can only observe a limited level. Even a disciple like Buddha has limited knowledge when he meets the avatar for the first time, so he can't know everything like Buddha. As a Buddhist, you shouldn't be obsessed with this.
