What dialect is Joe's Taizhou dialect? Taizhou dialect belongs to six Wu dialects, which is a Wu dialect spoken by residents in Taizhou, a coastal city in southeastern Zhejiang Province. It is represented by Lin San's Linhai dialect, which is quite different from Mandarin in pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar. There are many changes in Taizhou dialect. Taizhou dialect in a broad sense includes Linsan dialect and other small dialects, with a population of 5.8 million, accounting for 1 1.6% of the total population of Wu dialect, and can be subdivided into Nantai dialect and Beitai dialect.

Taizhou dialect was formed between Qin and Han Dynasties. Because Taizhou is located in the corner of the sea, it retains more ancient Yue Wu Yin and more ancient Chinese grammar vocabulary.
