In the story, the Zen master knew everything and said nothing, but the young monk was stunned by it and made people understand. That finger is the crystallization of the wisdom of the Zen master, but it is the wisdom cage of the young monk. So, the Zen master cut off the little monk's finger, and the little monk realized.
