When was the Sancang River in Dongtai widened and built?

1957. official website of Dongtai Municipal Government shows that Sancang River is located in the southeast of Dongtai City, Jiangsu Province, China, with a total length of 26.6 kilometers. At the end of 1957, Dongtai county government decided to excavate Sancang River on a large scale to meet the local irrigation demand and make more farmland for Guzhen District. After several years of dredging and widening, Sancang River has not only improved its flood control and drought resistance, but also become an important scenic spot in Dongtai City. Dongtai City is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province, managed by Yancheng City, located in the middle of Jiangsu Province and the southernmost part of Yancheng City.
