Whose are the nine Buddhist scriptures that Friar Sand ate?

In the eighth time of the original work, Guanyin went to Chang 'an to find someone to learn from. When I passed the Liusha River, I met Friar Sand. Friar Sand introduced his experience to Guanyin in detail, and there is an intriguing passage:

"Bodhisattva, I have eaten countless people here. I have always had several Buddhist scriptures and have eaten them. People who eat their heads throw quicksand to the bottom. This water, goose feathers can't float, only the skeleton of nine Buddhist scriptures floats on the water, and can't sink any more. I thought it was a foreign object, so I put Saul in one place and used it to fool around in my spare time. "

This passage contains a lot of information. In addition, it is repeatedly mentioned in the original work that "Tang Yan was a good man who practiced in the tenth century", so many people think that those nine articles are actually Tang Yan's past lives. Friar Sand ate the ninth Tang Priest, which was arranged by Buddhism to help Tang Priest avoid disaster. I waited until he had accumulated for ten generations before I followed him to the Western Heaven for Buddhist scriptures.

Others say that Friar Sand was demoted to Liushahe, but it was actually undercover sent by the Jade Emperor. If you look at it, lie down! Nine disciples were all eaten and took shovels! So he sent the tenth Tang priest to subdue Wukong first, and Friar Sand opened his mouth and knocked out his teeth first.

Is that really the case? Snails think these conclusions are untenable for several reasons:

When Tang Priest's mother was pregnant, Invivo told her personally that he would be "famous" in the future, and he would be carefully protected. In other words, the reincarnation of Tang Priest was carried out in strict accordance with the process, and multiple protective measures were taken. It is absolutely impossible for sand monks, sea monks and native monks to eat it halfway.

After the Tang Priest succeeded in getting the scriptures, the Tathagata said to him personally, "Holy monk, you are my second disciple in my last life, and your name is Jin Chan. Because I didn't know Buddhism and despised my great religion, I fell into the true spirit and reincarnated in the East. " In other words, Tang Priest was a golden cicada in his last life. As for the "good man who practiced for the tenth time", he had been reincarnated many times before Jin Chan.

What is Tang Priest? Even if you are destined to be eaten and reincarnated, you can't give it to Friar Sand, let alone all of it. What is Friar Sand's status? A small Taoist official in Tang Tian was also demoted by the Jade Emperor. Tang Priest needs such an identity. Du Jie? Are you kidding?

If Friar Sand was sent by heaven to eat the Tang Priest, it would be impossible for the Buddhist scriptures team to take him in. How can the Tathagata let a person who does everything right with Buddhism join the team of learning Buddhist scriptures? And after the success of the scriptures, it was also named Golden Lohan.

Of course not, as some people say, Friar Sand is the founder of the literary and art circles. Today, people play with walnuts, others directly play with skeletons, and playing with Tang Priest's skeletons is very tall.

Then, some people may ask: snail, you have been talking for a long time. If these nine Buddhist scriptures are not Tang Priest, who are they?

two

Let's read the original text.

"Bodhisattva, I have eaten countless people here. I always take Buddhist scriptures several times and eat them all. "

Friar Sand's words revealed an important message: before Guanyin went to Chang 'an to find Buddhist scriptures, the news that Tathagata was going to preach scriptures had spread to the East. Many people who are eager to get positive results (of course, some who simply want to learn from the scriptures) have already left.

At this time, the Tang priest may still be chanting in the temple, and even his mother doesn't know who she is.

What is the fundamental reason for Tang Priest to learn from the scriptures? As explained in the eighth issue of "Snail Watching Journey to the West", "Jinghe Dragon King: Don't let the villain move your big world" (please check the catalogue after paying attention), Jinghe Dragon King is the first person to promote Buddhist scriptures. He wanted to get back at the fortune teller, but he broke the dogma and was beheaded by Wei Zhi. He asked Li Shimin, the king of the Tang Dynasty, on the advice of the fortune teller, but Li Shimin didn't save him, so he sued Li Shimin in hell. Finally, Li Shimin came back from the dead and met a ghost. After his resurrection, he decided to arrange for someone to learn from the scriptures and make an amphibious Dojo.

This shows that only the Tang Priest is the only officially appointed monk in the Tang Dynasty, and he is also the appointed monk recognized by Tathagata, the chief official in charge of Buddhist scriptures, and Guanyin, the chief official. There are also some unofficial folk people who are eager for Buddhist scriptures as soon as they hear that they can achieve positive results (of course, there are also people who are determined to join the Buddhist cause but have not achieved positive results). Because they didn't get official approval, their view of life and death was naturally ignored. If Friar Sand ate it, eat it, so Guanyin didn't blame Friar Sand for it.

There is another sentence in the original that makes people think hard-

"Anyone who eats people's heads will throw quicksand and sink to the end. This water, goose feathers can't float, only the skeleton of nine Buddhist scriptures floats on the water, and can't sink any more. "

Friar Sand has eaten many Buddhist scriptures. Why are these nine not heavy?

This shows that the nine people who learned from the scriptures also have some ways! They may have studied Buddhism all their lives, just like the Tang Priest, but because of various problems, they are not the people the Tathagata wants, so they will definitely not go to the Western Heaven. The best fate is to be eaten by Friar Sand and become an ornament under Friar Sand.

It is precisely because they have some ways, so after their death, Xitian Group did not forget to play the "waste heat". Guanyin reminded Friar Sand: "You can hang the skull under your head and wait for the scriptures, which is useful."

What are they for? In Episode 22 of the original book, after the Tang Priest took Friar Sand in, Wukong took a skeleton hanging around his neck according to Guanyin's instructions, made a nine-palace with a rope, put the gourd brought by Hui 'an into it, made a speedboat, and followed the master across the shore.

So, another use of them is to use their skulls to cross Buddhist scriptures, and after completing their mission, they "dissolve in the nine-yin wind and disappear" (some readers say that this is the predecessor of the nine-yin Zhen Jing ... please accept the snail's knees).

three

Why did Wu Cheng'en Journey to the West write these nine Buddhist scriptures? What did he tell us about their tragic fate?

In fact, if you think about it a little, you will know why they can't go to the west to get the right results.

First of all, they were not officially recognized by the Tang Dynasty. Why did Li Shimin arrange for people to study the Bible? It's for your own land and water convention. You didn't even recognize him, so you went to learn the scriptures. Why did you bring them back? Watch it at home every day? Therefore, their starting point is not for the emperor, but for individuals, and they are lower than Tang Yan in the source of knowledge.

Second, it has not been recognized by the Tathagata Group. What is the Tathagata Sutra for? On the surface, it is for the land and water conference of the Tang king, but in fact it is for crossing the Tang people and realizing the eastward advancement of Buddhism. After the success of Buddhist scriptures, the achievement of Tathagata's reward was not that Tang Priest and others got back the scriptures, but that through the eighty-one difficulties, the eastern soil was introduced into Buddhism and more people joined it. The nine people who studied the scriptures only took a fancy to the interests behind the scriptures, or were just keen on worshipping Buddha, and did not understand the real intention of the Tathagata to pass on the scriptures. (This is the most deadly! )

Third, they don't have a broad mass base. The Buddhist scriptures of Tang Priest have been highly recognized by officials in the Tang Dynasty, senior officials in the Western Heaven, the celestial court and even the people, forming a huge Buddhist scripture team. Someone was protected by a direct plane in the air (Liu Ding Liu Jia, protector Galand, etc.). ), people escorted by nuclear weapons along the way (the Monkey King, Zhu Bajie, etc. ), as well as the remote commander (Tathagata, Guanyin). Even so, Tang Priest was almost eaten several times. On the other hand, those Buddhist scriptures were all single-handed and wanted to succeed on their own, so they only went to Liushahe and were eaten by the little sand monk.

In fact, they do not have the above three conditions, mainly because of their origins. Before the Ming Dynasty, Buddhists were very particular about their origins. The predecessors of Tathagata and Guanyin were all princes. Although Tang priest is not a prince, he is a disciple of the big boss and has made great contributions to Buddhism. What are those unknown Buddhist scriptures? Born at the grass roots, birds don't know each other. If they weren't eaten, which one was eaten? Everyone took the scriptures. Why did the Tang priest take a bird? How to realize various plans of Tathagata?

Where do they "turn into nine evil winds"? Tathagata didn't mention it, Guanyin didn't say it, and Wu Cheng'en didn't explain it. In fact, it is entirely conceivable that they must be reincarnated in hell. After rebirth, they can do anything, and they can no longer study classics. It's very simple. If you rob a job you shouldn't, you won't get good results!

From the tragic endings of these nine Buddhist scriptures, it can be seen that sometimes the superior may have an extraordinary background and leadership intention when designing a project, arranging a beautiful job and throwing a candy. Don't be hot-headed, only see delicious candy. In the end, you can only become a skeleton at the foot of Buddhist scriptures, with tears in your eyes, watching others cross the river over your head. You can only "turn into a shadow."

After all, this truth cannot be taken by anyone who wants to take it, even if you have thousands of determination and perseverance.
