Brief introduction of Bailin Temple in Beijing: A brief introduction to the history of Bailin Temple in Beijing

Bailin Temple in Beijing has a history of nearly 700 years. This is a large temple built in the Yuan Dynasty, which has been well preserved so far. Incense offerings here have always been strong, making it a favorite tourist destination for ancient pilgrims and humanistic intellectuals. Here is a detailed introduction to Beijing Bailin Temple.

I. Introduction to the History of Bailin Temple

Founded in the Yuan Dynasty. It is said that the cypress tree in front of the temple has turned into a forest, and Fiona Fang is a few miles away. We have never seen it.

During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, one of the eight temples in Beijing, adjacent to the Lama Temple, was extensively renovated during the Yongzheng and Gan Dynasties in the Qing Dynasty. I can think of its glory and status.

During the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, I worked as a Buddhist college and an army hospital, and gradually lost my former glory.

Subsequently, it was once abandoned, the building collapsed and the Buddha statue was destroyed; After many repairs by the Ministry of Culture, the temple buildings were gradually restored and reborn.

Although there are no cypress trees in the forest, no incense in the air, and no' Dragon and Tibetan Scriptures', the neat and solemn temples stand here. Here are the tablets of "Berlin in Past Dynasties" inscribed by Emperor Kangxi, the inscriptions inscribed by Emperor Qianlong for rebuilding Berlin temples, some 300-year-old cypress trees, and a famous ancient seven-leaf pagoda tree planted during Qianlong period. There are only three in Beijing at present.

All the past and stories have never been uncovered, which has cast a mysterious veil on Bailin Temple and filled people with curiosity and imagination.

I have worked in this yard for nearly ten years since 1998, and I am familiar with every plant here.

When I wanted to move to work in this temple, there were not many units in the yard, which seemed a little old and quiet. The temple itself is a big yard with few houses. Sometimes it is necessary to work overtime. At night, the yard is quiet, only the trees rustle. Some young people go to the yard to go to the toilet together.

In those years, Yonghegong Street was very lively, and many vehicles were parked in the alley leading to Bailin Temple. It's hard to get to Bailin Temple, but as soon as you enter Bailin Temple, your heart immediately calms down, as some visiting customers here say, "Be quiet, it's too noisy". Indeed, you can calm down and do a lot of things here. I don't believe in religion myself, but I just feel that I don't practice enough, but I like all the thoughts of compassion and purdah in Buddhism.

In recent years, I have been wandering around the yard, and I have basically visited every corner of the temple. Sometimes I chat with the management here and learn that it used to be dilapidated and the Buddha statues in the temple have been burned and destroyed. Now it is basically built in the later period, and there are not many old objects. I looked at the yard carefully and found that although it was built later, it basically maintained its original style and characteristics, and there was no sense of disobedience.

Second, the life of the temple in Berlin

Compared with ordinary temples, Bailin Temple has a high regulation, especially there is a quadrangle-style palace in the west courtyard of the temple, which has always puzzled me.

Looking up the history of Bailin Temple, we know that Bailin Temple is closely related to Yongzheng in Qing Dynasty. Yongzheng himself believed in Buddhism, and there was such a temple next to his mansion. Yongzheng's respect for it can be imagined.

Before Yongzheng ascended the throne, he often went to Bailin Temple to meditate, recite scriptures and worship Buddha. At the same time, the temple was arranged to receive the "double body" of becoming a monk for itself. After he killed Jiangxia Town in Nian Gengyao, he also arranged it here, which is actually the place where Yongzheng discussed important affairs. I think the palace on the west side of the temple may be the residence of Yongzheng's deliberation and Nian Gengyao Thought. It can be seen that this Bailin Temple is of great significance to Yongzheng.

Especially in the fifty-second year of Kangxi (17 13), under the auspices of Prince Yongzheng at that time, the largest renovation work was carried out since its completion. After the completion of the renovation, Emperor Kangxi personally inscribed the plaque of "Berlin in Past Dynasties" and presented it to Bailin Temple, and this plaque has been hung in the Hall of the Great Hero in the temple. When we were stationed in the Ursa Major Hall, we sealed the plaque intact under the supervision of security personnel.

3. Yongzheng Temple, Qianlong Temple and Bailin Temple in Qing Dynasty

When we worked in the temple, we had two renovations, and there was a major renovation from 2003 to 2004. The whole project was very big at that time. During this period, some companies moved out one after another, and we also moved out in 2006. That year, as an ancient building in the Qing Dynasty, Bailin Temple was approved by the State Council to be included in the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units. Later, I heard that all the units in the temple moved out of Bailin Temple.

20 15, because the TV station was going to record a program of Hutong Temple Fair, I went in and filmed it. Let's explain Bailing Temple in detail. The Bailin Temple visited this time has been upgraded to a national cultural protection unit, and the whole courtyard has been renovated. I really feel awe-inspiring when I enter the temple!

Sitting in a temple facing south, all buildings are built on tall masonry bases, which is magnificent. The main buildings of the temple are built on the north-south axis. From south to north, there are Shanmen, Tianwang Hall, Juyuan Xingjue Hall, Daxiong Hall, Infinite Hall and Wei Shuai Pavilion in turn. On the east and west sides are wing rooms. Daxiong Hall is the main hall of the whole temple, with five rooms wide and a single eaves resting on the top of the mountain. There is a huge horizontal plaque hanging in the middle of the eaves, which reads "Berlin in Past Dynasties" inscribed by Emperor Kangxi. Moge Pavilion, also known as the Sutra Pavilion, has two floors and five rooms in width, with auxiliary buildings on the east and west sides. For the convenience of viewing, draw a simple plan of Bailin Temple from memory. There may be mistakes. Please forgive me. )

It has a history of 250 years and is the "oldest butterfly tower" in Beijing. There are only two ancient seven-leaf Sophora japonica trees in Beijing, and the other one is in Guangji Temple. There is a five-leaf iris in the east gate of Jingshan Park, also known as Sophora japonica. There is a sign under the tree, which means it is a precious tree species. More than 600 years, how many historic buildings can go today? In fact, it is just a historical memory that is constantly being refurbished. We have seen many valuable historical memories disappear and feel sad and helpless, but we have also seen many things restored and passed on. It is that history is advancing, and we should be gratified!

May Bailin Temple continue the Buddhist incense as soon as possible, inherit the century-old Buddhist Sanskrit, reproduce the past incense, add a clean place to this ancient Lama Temple market, and pray for China's prosperity.
