How to be a good Buddhist

I. Introduction

We believe in Buddhism and convert to the Three Treasures. What shall we do after conversion? We converted to Sambo in order to get rid of life and death, and then formally entered the Buddha. Before I converted, I was a vegetarian and a Buddhist worshipper. After I converted, I officially became a disciple of the Three Treasures-a Buddhist treasure, a magic weapon, a monk treasure, and a Buddhist.

How to be a good Buddhist? To cultivate ten good deeds, we must abide by the teachings of the Buddha, avoid all evil deeds, and pursue all good deeds-don't do bad deeds, do more good deeds, and good deeds can be summarized as ten good deeds.

Second, the essence of ten goodness

First, don't kill.

Why not kill? Our Buddhism stresses compassion and cultivates our own compassion. We are always afraid of death. Animals are as afraid of death as we are. Just like the cow in our countryside, if you kill it with a knife, it will also shed tears. This is a large animal. Like our family for the New Year, killing chickens and slaughtering sheep. With a knife, you chase fast, the chicken runs fast, and it is also afraid of death. Therefore, our Buddhism stresses compassion, does not kill, and advocates vegetarianism.

The problem of advocating vegetarianism should be divided into several grades. Some people believe in Buddhism for many years, and it is best to eat vegetarian food. Some people have just entered Buddhism, but they can't be vegetarian at once. Buddhism also stipulates that they can eat vegetarian food on the tenth day of fasting and eat it for six days a month. If we Buddhists were not vegetarians, people would laugh. Buddhists are not vegetarians, just like three-year-olds can't eat. Start to be a vegetarian from the first day and the first half of the month, slowly, six days a month, ten days a month, and then become a vegetarian. Anyway, don't kill anything.

Second, do not steal.

Buddhism is very strict with this article. Don't take other people's things Taking other people's things is committing theft, and you can't take anything. When you work in a company, you should also distinguish between public and private, and you can't practice favoritism, turn public into private, and take public things. This is also theft. Why is this? According to Buddhism, you can't take anything. It used to be called five cents (it used to be called a few taels of silver). Now you don't need silver or foreign currency, but you can take things with RMB and 50 cents, which is also theft. This is quite strict.

Third, it is not evil.

Buddhism tells believers at home that it is normal between husband and wife, and abnormal behavior outside husband and wife is not allowed.

Fourth, don't lie.

Speak honestly and don't lie. Don't be duplicitous, cheat and lie with sweet words, or lie and tell the truth. One is one, one is two.

Fifth, I can't speak English.

Just don't be sweet-mouthed, or frivolous, rude or indecent.

Sixth, there are no two tongues.

Two tongues are tongues. Turn it over and scream. It was good and friendly for everyone to be together. You ramble, sow dissension and gossip, and you get it, which causes contradictions among everyone and affects unity and friendship. Don't spread disputes and gossip.

Seventh, don't do evil.

Don't swear. We Buddhists must never curse others. What's the matter? Let's have a good talk. It's not good for you to curse. Turn around. I didn't scold him. What if he scolds me? Buddhism stresses patience and patience. If you really can't stand it, quarrel, scold or even fight with him, and the conflict will be great. We Buddhists, not only don't call names on our family, but people don't talk back when they call me names. Ignore him and run away. He came to quarrel with you, but you ran away. He had no opponent to quarrel with, so he had to walk over. So in Buddhism, we are kind and don't swear.

Eighth, don't be greedy.

Being stingy is being stingy. Buddhism advocates that we should repay kindness. We Buddhists not only come to temples to give alms, but also help people in need in society. If you don't want to help others a little, you will be greedy, the more the better. If you are greedy, you will do bad things and kill thieves. If you are not greedy, you will not do bad things. So, don't be greedy.

Ninth, don't be embarrassed.

I just have a bad temper. You talk to him, but he quarrels with you. So quarreling and even revenge are all manifestations of hatred. Our Buddhism emphasizes compassion and kindness. So talk to each other well, don't make conflicts, and don't retaliate against others.

Tenth, don't be silly.

We Buddhists must know what is right and see what is right. Know what is right and don't engage in crooked ways. As we all know, it used to be a cult, not a Buddhist, and a few people are still doing it. Make it neither fish nor fowl, out of tune. We don't believe in superstitious activities either.

Like fortune telling, fortune telling, the country calls it feudal superstition, and we real Buddhists don't do that either. I'm not going to see a fortune teller to see if my life is good. It's up to me.-I make my own decisions. Do more good deeds, and life will be better in the future. You always do bad things, do things that kill thieves and make mistakes, and your fate will not be good then.

Buddhists should believe in cause and effect and be moral people.

We Buddhists talk about karma and do good deeds, which will be rewarded in the future; If you do evil, you will get what you deserve in the future. Why will there be one person in our life? We did good things in our last life, so we won our lives. I have been a cat, a dog, a cow and a sheep all my life. It did bad things in its last life, and it has embarked on the road of animals in this life. In Buddhism, we believe in karma. Good is rewarded with good, and evil with evil. We will not fail to report it. Be sure to report it all then.

We believe in the causality of three generations: past, present and future. I don't just believe in now. I have done good deeds all my life, and I have not been rewarded. He did something bad, but it paid off. This view is incorrect. Buddhism talks about the cause and effect of the third world, some are the reports of this world, and some are the reports of the afterlife. There are also some things to do in this life, the afterlife newspaper and the present world newspaper. Someone killed, set fire to and robbed, and the state arrested him and sentenced him to death. There are some serious things that are sentenced to death, which are called this world newspaper. What they have done in this life, they have to report it in this life. There is also an afterlife newspaper, which is not reported in this life and is reported in the afterlife.

Karma, seeking truth from facts, can't be wrong at all. If you do something bad, you will report it sooner or later. Do more good deeds and you will be rewarded in the future. We should believe in what goes around comes around, do more good things and not do bad things.

Now the country advocates cultural morality, so the five precepts and ten virtues of our Buddhism are our Buddhist morality, which is superior to society. When you say that you steal a small thing with 50 cents, you commit theft, unlike in society, where the state sentences him to rob or misappropriate tens of thousands. It can be seen that Buddhism has higher requirements, which is also the morality of our Buddhism.

Fourth, what is the purpose of converting to the three treasures: to get rid of life and death and become a Buddha.

As I said just now, we converted to Sambo to get rid of life and death. Why should we live and die? I am a person, although I have a personal identity, but I still rotate in the six divisions of the wheel of karma, and the six roads are three good and three evil roads. Three good ways-heaven, man and Asura; Three evils-hell, hungry ghost and beast. We are still in the six divisions of the karma wheel, and the sea of suffering is boundless. We are outstanding in the sea of suffering. If you want to leave the misery and the six divisions in the karma wheel, you need to cultivate your mind if you believe in Buddhism.

Fortunately, we met Buddhism, which freed us from life and death. It depends on ourselves, which method we practice, and we have to practice by ourselves.

As we all know, Master Yin Guang founded the Pure Land Sect Dojo at that time, and Lingyan Mountain is the Pure Land Sect. There are eight sects of Buddhism, among which Pure Land Sect is the most popular. The so-called three universal quilts are beneficial to dullness. Pure land legal persons can repair them, educated and uneducated, and men, women and children are easy to repair.

How to practice Buddhism? If we want to practice successfully in this life, we must be diligent in chanting Buddha, be convinced, make a wish and persist.

Amitabha who believes in the western paradise; Make a wish. When I die, I won't go anywhere else. I'm going to the western paradise. When I get to the western paradise, I'll leave the six divisions in the wheel of karma and die. Listen to Amitabha's lectures and practice until he becomes a Buddha. The purpose of our belief in Buddhism is to become a Buddha in the future.

We all have Buddha nature, and we all have Buddha nature. How can we successfully cultivate Buddha nature? It is up to each of us to choose which method can be repaired. Then, the pure land method is the most popular, and it can be practiced successfully in this life. You don't have to practice other methods. Even if the first fruit has been proved, it will take seven times to return to heaven and seven times to the mortal world to become a four-fruit arhat and escape from life and death. And our pure land method can be successfully practiced in this life.

We are vegetarian and chanting Buddha, and people ask, why are you vegetarian and chanting Buddha? We are vegetarian and Buddhist, living in the west, for nothing else. We live in a western paradise. In the western paradise, where will you go will not come to the six divisions of the wheel of karma.

We listened to Amitabha's sermon and said that when you become a Buddha, you will come back to spend time with all beings. All beings in the ten dharma circles are more bitter than us. When we become Buddhas, we are not going to the western paradise to be happy, but to come back and spend time with all beings, so that they can convert to the Three Treasures in the future.

So do more good deeds and read more Buddhism. Today, when we convert to the Three Treasures, we will have merit.
