The jade emperor broke the dogma in order to gamble that it would not rain. The Jade Emperor ordered Wei Zhi under Emperor Taizong to behead the Dragon King, and the Dragon King begged Emperor Taizong not to cut off his head. So when it was time to kill the Dragon King, Emperor Taizong blocked Wei Zhi. Unexpectedly, he played for a while, and his soul slipped into the sky to cut off the dragon king's head. At night, the dragon king complained in his dream that Taizong had broken his word. The next day, Emperor Taizong asked Qin Qiong and Wei Chijingde to guard the city gate. Sure enough, the Dragon King didn't come to make trouble. Emperor Taizong couldn't bear to work hard on the two generals, so he posted their portraits on the door, with Strafe in one hand and an iron mace in the other. Since then, the gatekeeper has been handed down.

Spring Festival couplets were originally called Fu Tao, and they were posted on the door to ward off evil spirits. It was not until the Ming Dynasty that Fu Tao changed his name to Spring Festival couplets. Ming Taizu announced that every household should put up a Spring Festival couplets. Zhu Yuanzhang personally went out to see if the people had posted Spring Festival couplets. He passed a house and saw if there were any Spring Festival couplets. I didn't know until I asked, this is a swallow pig. He can't read or paste Spring Festival couplets. Zhu Yuanzhang thought about it and made a pair of Spring Festival couplets for that family. This kind of Spring Festival couplets initiated by Ming Taizu has become our New Year's custom.

My father and I started posting Spring Festival couplets. I helped my father to hold the couplets below, and he posted the couplets above. Couplets are called "good luck in and out safely" and "good luck and happiness". Then I tore up the couplets on other doors of my house and put them on brand-new ones. On the 28th day of the twelfth lunar month, people put up couplets, and every household is busy putting up couplets. Dad asked me to post couplets for him, and I readily agreed, because I have a composition for posting couplets, which just collected such materials.

Dad asked me to take the couplets to the living room first, and he brought his own paste. Mother pasted the paste on the back of the couplets, and then Dad picked it up and pasted it on the wall. When I saw how funny it was, I said, "Mom, let me get confused." Mother said, "Good!" I was worried that it wouldn't stick well, so I painted a lot of paste on the back of the couplets, and the couplets were soaked. Dad picked up the couplets, and the paste kept falling off. The couplets became disobedient and sticky, and some places were torn. The pasted couplets are wrinkled, uneven and ugly. Mother said, "There is too much paste. Just tap it on the side. " Under the guidance of my mother, I didn't apply too much paste. Dad first glued the couplets on it, then swept them gently from top to bottom with a broom, and the couplets were successfully glued to the wall. In this way, we quickly posted couplets.

Looking at the uneven couplets, I thought: there is so much knowledge in such a simple thing as posting couplets!

After posting the couplets, I asked my father how the couplets were formed.

Dad searched the computer for the source of couplets. Tell me again: As a unique literary form, Spring Festival couplets have a long history in China. It began in the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, especially in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and has developed for more than a thousand years today. As early as before the Qin and Han dynasties, there was a custom of hanging peach symbols around the gate every New Year. Fu Tao is two big boards made of peach wood, on which are written the names of the legendary gods "Shen Tu" and "Lei Yu". This custom lasted for more than 1000 years. It was not until the Five Dynasties that people began to put couplets on mahogany boards instead of the names of gods. According to historical records, on the New Year's Eve in 964 AD, Meng Chang, the master of Houshu, wrote a couplet on the bedroom door, which is the earliest Spring Festival couplets in China. After the Song Dynasty, it has become quite common for people to hang Spring Festival couplets in the New Year. Therefore, Wang Anshi wrote in the poem "January Day" that "thousands of households always change new peaches for old ones" was a true portrayal of the Spring Festival couplets at that time. Due to the close relationship between the appearance of Spring Festival couplets and Fu Tao, the ancients also called Spring Festival couplets "Fu Tao". In the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding father of the Ming Dynasty, strongly advocated couplets. After he made Nanjing Jinling his capital, he ordered ministers, officials and ordinary people to write a couplet and put it on the door before New Year's Eve. He personally wears casual clothes to patrol and watch from house to house for fun. Scholars at that time also regarded couplets as elegant enjoyment, and writing Spring Festival couplets became a social fashion.

After entering the Qing Dynasty, couplets prevailed in Qianlong, Jiaqing and Daoguang generations. Just like the prosperous Tang Dynasty, many famous couplets appeared.

With the development of cultural exchanges among countries, couplets were introduced to Vietnam, Korea, Japan, Singapore and other countries. These countries still have the custom of pasting couplets.
