Is there a scientific basis for divination in Zhouyi?

Aside from the philosophical principles and thoughts of Zhouyi, it is difficult to sum up the scientific nature of divination. Confucius said, "Wise and farsighted people have complicated divination". "Far" refers to the distance from ingenuity. The meaning of this sentence is: people who lack wise strategies often know divination. It shows that divination is an action that will be taken only when the educational level is low or the situation is out of control.

Divination and seeking bodhisattva belong to the same type, which is a kind of self-liberation to get rid of the troubles of future results, reduce mental stress and burden, and make sleep stable. It doesn't have any effect on the future development of things. It's just a stopgap measure and a negative attitude.

As for its scientific nature, it needs to be measured from two aspects:

1) the principle and basis of divination;

Judging from the emergence of the sixty-four hexagrams, it is in line with primary science. Any science can't understand the internal laws of things at the initial stage, so it has to start with the statistics of the external laws of their emergence, evolution and development, and establish shallow concepts, laws and theories. Overseas, it is called "phenomenology". Scholars in our country always like to play between the lines, and they have to translate it into "dimension theory or representation theory", which is immediately unacceptable and then awe-inspiring. In fact, it is a primary learning based on the superficial changes of things. Foreign scholars don't take abstruse names, which shows that they are more unpretentious than China scholars.

The Book of Changes has counted a large number of laws of personnel, society, means of production and natural phenomena, observed their changes, development, success or failure results, and then linked them with the five elements, gossip, daily work and hourly work, summed up 64 hexagrams and predicted the future. The observation and statistics in the previous part are scientific, and when they are linked with the five elements, gossip, daily work and time work, they are subjective and have no scientific basis. The success rate of divination is only about 70%, mainly because there are problems in the accuracy and scientificity of this connection. In order to improve the success rate of divination, we have to rely on the experience and improvisation of diviners.

2) Divination method: The divination method adopted in the Book of Changes is arbitrary, which means that people often say that luck is unscientific.

In order to make up for the randomness of divination methods, fortune tellers have to take other measures. Play tricks when analyzing Oracle bones. After liberation, fortune tellers once exposed their means. Such as ambiguous words, such as:

"Father before son". There are two interpretations of this sentence: 1) The father is alive and the son is dead; 2) When the son is alive, the father dies before the son. Through this kind of discourse that can be understood in a double way, we can find the realization of the viewer; And it is considered too accurate: "His father is long dead!"

In a word, although I ching divination has certain scientific basis, many of them are deceptive, so it is both scientific and deceptive. The lower the level of fortune tellers, the more deceptive things there are, and the worse the reliability.
