Theoretically, if you have no scientific literacy, you may be superstitious. Even some people who are engaged in scientific work, if they have no scientific literacy, will hold some superstitions (such as superstitious witch doctors, Yijing, geomantic omen and fortune telling). The opposite of superstition is the scientific method. Science is a dynamic, open and reliable method, which allows self-falsification (science is not any scientific theory) and pays attention to formal logic and evidence.

Superstition in science is just like superstition in mathematics-people in the future can say that people today are superstitious about backward mathematical theories (such as plane geometry), but they can't say that they are superstitious about mathematics, because mathematics is the method.

Since 1980s, the phenomenon of "superstition" of China people has taken on modern characteristics, either in the name of science or with the mission of carrying forward tradition. The subject of superstition has shifted from rural areas to cities, to people with knowledge and higher education, and even to state officials. Especially since the mid-1990s, confusing "official superstition" has often appeared in China society. This kind of officialdom superstition stems from the worship and superstition of officials at all levels in officialdom to their superiors.

Most of them stem from the lack of democracy in officialdom, and regard their superiors and subordinates as the masters of officialdom, which affects the operation of power and the fate of personal suffering and promotion. When it is difficult for individuals to grasp their official career in officialdom, these officials often find another way and rely on superstition as their "symbol of official protection" and secret way of promotion to ensure the success of their official career. The fundamental reason is that "model" is in officialdom and "faith" is in power, which is a form of worship of social power.
