What changes have Beijing Yunju Temple experienced?

Yunju Temple, located at the southern foot of Baidai Mountain in Fangshan District, southwest of Beijing, was founded in the Sui Dynasty. In 60 1 year, Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty built a stupa in Qingjie, Gao Shuang, and a stupa was also built in Zhiquan Temple on Baidai Mountain in southwest Beijing.

During the great cause of Emperor Yangdi Yang Di, Jingwan of Zhiquan Temple listened to the instructions of its teacher, Master Huisi of the Northern Qi Dynasty and the second ancestor of Tiantai Sect of Nanyue, and deeply felt that Dharma would destroy the danger. In order to effectively protect the Buddha's property, she vowed to carve stones to make them immortal.

Jingwan scriptures were supported and responded by the ruling and opposition parties in the Sui Dynasty. 6 1 1 year, Emperor Yang Di made a fortune in Zhuo Jun County near Baidai Mountain, and Empress Xiao helped Jingwan with thousands of silks, and the government and the people in the ruling and opposition rushed to give alms to Jingwan.

There are at least nine kinds of stone sutras carved in Jingwan period, such as Huayan Sutra, Beijing Sutra and Diamond Sutra. The earliest published Huayan Jing is hidden in the eighth hole on the left side of Lei Yin Cave in Baidaishan, while the Goblet of Fire is embedded in the stone wall of Lei Yin Cave. Since then, the publishing and engraving of stone classics have been started in Baidai Mountain, so the descendants of Baidai Mountain are also called Shijingshan.

In 63 1 year, in the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty, a temple was built on a large scale at the foot of Baidai Mountain, and the original Zhiquan Temple was renamed as Yunju Temple.

In the earliest Strange Tales from a Lonely Studio in the Tang Dynasty, the chance of Yunju Temple was recorded in detail: Jingwan had planned to build a temple for a long time, but it has not been able to do so because of lack of wood. As it happens, in June, 63 1 year, a torrential rain caused a flash flood, and the upstream river bank collapsed, and thousands of huge pine and cypress trees floated downstream to the foot of Baidai Mountain. So Jingwan recruited craftsmen and built Yunju Temple with the help of local people.
