Brief introduction of Shi Tiesheng's life

Shi Tiesheng

Shi Tiesheng (195 1-), a Beijinger, is a famous contemporary writer and thinker in China.

65438-0958 entered Wang Daren Primary School in Dongcheng District, Beijing, and graduated from junior high school affiliated to Tsinghua University from 65438-0967. Then at 1969, go to Yan 'an area in northern Shaanxi to "cut in line". Three years later, he returned to Beijing because his legs were paralyzed and worked in Beixinqiao Street Factory. Later, I went home to recuperate because of illness. Published works 65438 to 0979.

Shi Tiesheng is one of the most admirable writers in contemporary China. His works are exactly the same as his life. In his Writing Night, Shi Tiesheng expressed the most sound and full thoughts with his mutilated body. He experienced the hardships of life, but expressed the clarity and joy of existence. His wise words lit up our increasingly dark hearts. As the most important achievement of China's literature in 2002, his book Breaking a Pen from a Illness, as always, pondered over such major issues as life and death, disability and love, suffering and faith, writing and art, and answered such common spiritual questions as how I was present and how I lived my meaning. When most writers gave up facing the basic situation of human beings in the era of consumerism, Shi Tiesheng lived in his own heart, still struggling to pursue the value and glory of human beings, still firmly marching into the desolate area of existence and resolutely fighting against the unknown. This courage and persistence have deeply aroused our vigilance and concern about our own situation.

impression

Hundreds of words spread their love for their mother and regret for their youth in all directions. He deserves to be one of the eight masters of contemporary prose in China. He didn't give in to the disease, but it made him write such a thoughtful article. He left a deep impression on me.

-Speech by Shi Tiesheng, winner of Outstanding Achievement Award of China Literature and Media Award in 2002.

Some of Shi Tiesheng's early novels, such as Half-hour Lunch, have the characteristics of exposing "dark side" literature. My Distant Qingping Bay published by 1983 is not only Shi Tiesheng, but also an important novel creation at that time. It is explained on many levels: or it broadens the horizon of "educated youth literature", or its significance in literature "seeking roots". On the issue of "seeking roots", the author expressed the view that "seeking roots" and "seeking roots" are completely different. One is where we come from and why we come. The other is also for: where are we going and how to get there? Regarding the latter, he thinks that "this is to see the absurdity of life and find a reliable basis for the spirit" (Postscript on Sunday, Huaxia Publishing House, 1983 edition).

Shi Tiesheng's personal experience of physical disability makes some of his novels describe the life dilemma and spiritual dilemma of the disabled. However, he transcended the pity and self-pity of the disabled for their fate, and thus rose to the concern of universal existence, especially the phenomenon of mental "disability". Different from other novelists, he has no attachment to the perceptual life characteristics of his own nation and region. He regards writing as a narrative and exploration of personal spiritual course. "The universe and its endless desires will become eternal songs and dances. What kind of names this desire has can be ignored "(Shi Tiesheng's Me and Ditan). This persistent concern for the survival of the "disabled" (in Shi Tiesheng's view, all people are disabled and defective) makes his novels have a strong philosophical meaning. Because of his personal experience, his narrative runs through a kind of warmth, but fatalistic sadness; But there is also a struggle against absurdity and fate. Life is like a string, a fable that struggles with absurdity to gain the meaning of existence.

He is the author of a novel "Notes on Retreat", a short story "Life is like a String" and a collection of essays "I and Ditan".

My Far Green Ping Bay and Grandma's Star won the National Excellent Short Story Awards of 1983 and 1984 respectively, and My Old House won the first Lu Xun Literature Award.

▲ Shi Tiesheng's story

2 1 year-old, both legs are paralyzed. 198 1 year, suffering from severe kidney disease. 1998 Start dialysis. He said that he was "sick from writing in his professional and spare time".

His famous essay "Ditan and I" inspired countless people. Encouraged by the article, Yang Lin, a deep middle school student, walked out of the shadow brought by the car accident and won the national composition award with "Hardness of Life".

▲ Shi Tiesheng's unique view on fate

Tell him to worship Buddha, but he didn't. Because the Buddha can't make his paralyzed legs stand up, because if the Buddha is willing to bless others, it is not called Buddha. He believes that the original meaning of Buddha is "consciousness", a verb, a behavior rather than a supreme throne.

People ask Tiesheng to tell their fortune, but he doesn't count. Because, you have a good life, you don't need to count, "good" will come; If your life is bad, let alone live a happy day, you don't have to know that the future is sinister but step by step approach the disaster. Why bother! An expert said that he could "avoid disaster for you", but Tie Sheng didn't believe it either, because that's fate is uncertain, and everything he "calculated" is nonsense. What is it for?

But Shi Tiesheng seems to "believe in life" again. He said: "if you predict the future of everything, you will say that it has countless possibilities, but if you look back at its past, you will know that there is only one fate." Isn't this the way a person walks? But this is not to lose control of "destiny". Tie Sheng's fighting spirit and creative practice prove that he is a man who does not bow to fate. He just doesn't insist on anything and doesn't be a slave to desire, because desire is endless and people can't be completely "satisfied" one day!

In my opinion, among the young writers in the new period, Shi Tiesheng is the most knowledgeable, open-minded and sincere model. He is a disabled person. Because of this pessimism, he tried to commit suicide several times, but when he finally realized that there would be no world without differences, he frankly "accepted" his disabled body, "accepted" his differences with others, and tried to be a mentally healthy person.

I especially appreciate Tie Sheng's generosity and understanding in the face of suffering. He said: "If suffering destroys nature, there is no sorrow, and if suffering destroys everything, it will be destroyed." Therefore, people should never pursue absolute fairness, eternal interests and completely carefree so-called "happiness". A life without regrets-this is the real life.

▲ Walk into the unusual Shi Tiesheng.

Shi Tiesheng is such a seriously neglected figure. He was once included in the so-called "resistance to surrender", but this is a serious misunderstanding. Shi Tiesheng's gesture is not so much protest and criticism as meditation and construction. ...

One of the biggest reasons why I like his works is that his ideas and words are clear and clear, and he has never been haunted. He can transcend wisdom and stupidity. He doesn't pretend, but he often examines his heart. ...

Tiesheng's interpretation of life, religious spirit, literature and nature constitutes a real philosophy. He fantasized about stepping on the soft grass and kicking a stone on the side of the road. ...

▲ Disability and love in life

I'm Shi Tiesheng-I thought it was a little strange when I was very young, as if I could do anything but me. This feeling has never been eliminated, especially when I am alone. I finally figured it out: Shi Tiesheng is what others think of me, and I'm not all Shi Tiesheng.

In most cases, I was restored and beautified by Shi Tiesheng. Simplification is inevitable. Beautify is either out of the goodwill of others, or out of my disguise, or out of a certain style of habit-China people love hymns. So besides Shi Tiesheng, there is a richer and more chaotic me. So I, even I often regard him as a mystery. I'm sure he's here, but it's not easy to arrest him all. In a word, he is far from being a middle-aged man in a wheelchair, angular and uniform. Sunlight has a magic power, which often makes people shy, hesitant and even desperate for a name. As soon as the magic of the day disappears and the freedom of the night comes, the name falls off into a flat painted skin, and the rest gradually coincides with me. Although it seems hazy, it is true. This is the psychological environment necessary for solitude and writing.

In fact, I may not be suitable to be a writer, but fate has brought me to this (approximate) road.

When the left and right sides are boundless, there is always a way to go, and this road can no longer be walked with legs, so I will use a pen to find it. This kind of exploration was later found to be beneficial to this steely life and to the tranquility of one of the most restless hearts in the world.

Therefore, my writing has little to do with literature, and it may not matter. I just walked in a daze and couldn't help nagging; Look around alone; When I walk in horror, I pray in a direction I don't know where. I'm just a writer, which has nothing to do with any "learning". Learning is a very particular thing, especially needs to be recognized. Mathematics, philosophy, aesthetics and literature are all things that don't play around. If you don't write, there are not so many rules. It's okay for an idiot to dream, but it's okay to catch the wind and catch the shadows, and it's okay to be suspicious. Of course, at your own risk.

Writing saved Shi Tiesheng and me, otherwise what will I do in my life? Of course, you can also do something else, such as drawing eggs. I did, but I really don't like it. I like sports, football, basketball, track and field, mountain climbing and wild animals, but this is impossible for Shi Tiesheng. Making a living by writing is a forced thing. At the beginning, I advised him: if he dies, he will die. Just write. Step by step. In this way, I actually made some money and gained a little reputation. This stupid student has never been so pure as not to like these two things. Besides, money can support a "heavy body", and fame is used to support a weak vanity. When his fragile heart became strong, I did see the absurd side of fame, but don't burn your bridges. I remember it extended a kind hand when we were most desperate.

After all, I write to make a living. It is divided into several levels, first for food, clothing, housing and transportation, then for inadequacy, for value and vanity, and then for inadequacy, for absurdity. Is absurdity enough? So I was sent on this endless road.

Disability and love, two kinds of news, are particularly emphasized in Shi Tiesheng's fate. As I said, it is appropriate to emphasize this naturally stupid person. I just didn't expect Shi Tiesheng to gradually understand this after he was forty years old.

These two kinds of news came almost at the same time, both of which were 2 1 year.

A person who is fully prepared for love finally has a disability-in any case, this move is enough harm. I don't believe anyone can not panic or cry. Besides, it is not the result of a glorious act. This is a very common event. It's like waking up and looking at the sky. It's still blue, and the ground hasn't collapsed, but something is wrong-your relationship with the earth has changed a little. Yes, you can't have soles, you can only have buttocks, or you can rub them with your whole body.

Yes, the first is sitting, the second is lying, and the third is death. Well, that's settled. Don't need any reason. I'm glad that he soon found the point of the problem: no reason! You didn't make a mistake, and no one did. You don't need to repent or hate. Let the wind say "sorry" to you? In the future, you will know that God has no mistakes, never.

I remember that when love came, the iron student was disabled in both legs. How much he longed for love, but I personally wrote "I can't get in" into his heart. As a matter of fact, Shi Tiesheng and I are complaining about each other again. We can't sleep well and the food is not delicious. He said yes, I said no, I said yes, and he saidno. Sadly, the person who said no often seemed just, while the person who said yes seemed to have ulterior motives. However, on the whole, such disputes will eventually win over the righteousness. After a little time, the result should be clear. Doesn't the wind beat the clouds?

Can the mountain block the river? Isn't the result now? -Shi Tiesheng is married and childless, and lives comfortably. But I couldn't. It was a damn thing then. I always feel that my true feelings are hurting others, and it's no harm to hurt one. But it's like a lady's stockings jumping, warp and weft intertwined, and a pit is a big pit. That's the point: "No" is written all around! This is the most fundamental suffering of disability.

This is not necessarily a narrow and insignificant suffering that should be endured. People who lose the right to love will inevitably suffer the comprehensive damage of other rights, just as people's rights are generally threatened in the era of devaluation of love.

It can be said that the primary problem for the disabled is employment. Employment, if only for survival, can't see why it must be better than relief; So it is better than relief, because it shows that disabled people also have the same right to work. Since it is a right, nothing is secondary. If one right is ignored, why are other rights guaranteed? If their rights stop at work, it may not be human nature. What about cows and horses? If we think that disabled people can (or should, or have to) live outside of love, why can't we take a step back and think that they can also live outside of classrooms, stadiums, cinemas and various public areas ... and finally live outside of comprehensive human rights and dignity?

Yes, yes, sometimes it has to be, and so do strong people. It's not just disabled people who have never had a happy love in their lives! Ok, this is another key: is there a difference between a person who has never won a medal and a person who has no right to participate in the competition?

But wait. After talking for a long time, who said that disabled people have no right to love? No matter which iron student, you can't support your argument with a false premise! Of course. However, does discrimination have to be publicly announced? Is there necessarily no discrimination in the field of publicly claiming discrimination? Or on the contrary, the voice of non-discrimination is precisely because discrimination does exist?

Well, even so, is the right to love really worth emphasizing so prominently?

Yes, this is because, similarly, disability is also a prominent problem in this world.

Disability is not unique to disabled people. Disability is disability, limitation and obstacle. Being famous is already a restriction. The body is the barrier of the soul, otherwise, where does the ideal come from? Disability is not limited to limbs or organs, but also includes mental oppression and injury, such as discrimination. Discrimination is not limited to the disabled, it is everywhere. The reason for discrimination is that people deviate from the value of God's love and blindly measure people's social functions, so the fruit on the tree of good and evil highlights the differences between people. Under honor and disgrace, the mind begins to guard, then alienates, and finally is lonely. The mind groans and calls at the same time. What's your name? For example, what does the Paralympic Games call for? What does Martin Luther King's dream require? It is to continue a sound mental road for the disabled body and open a road of love for the lonely soul. The news of disability and love is always lingering, never leaving, and everywhere. Real progress is hard to be measured by productivity in the end, instead of saving disability with love.

However, discrimination against disabled people's right to love is often acquiesced or even justified. This extreme example of spiritual oppression may be a symbol and a warning, explaining the fable of God everywhere with the pain of being rejected by being loved and the eternal dream of moving towards love. Perhaps, God wants to emphasize people's disability, people's lost way and danger, and the necessity and sanctity of love.

▲ Go to find Shi Tiesheng.

I made a special trip to Beijing on New Year's Eve to talk with Shi Tiesheng and use it in the column of harvest. I should have left long ago, because the end of the year was hectic, because he and my body had to choose a suitable time, and because I said I would wait until 200 1 to get on the plane, and I was also a writer of 2 1 century. Anyway, I went, talked and came back.

The topic I talked with Shi Tiesheng was "to be or not to be", which is the "death" in Love and Death are Eternal Themes. I believe we know more about death than others. It happened to be his birthday that day, and the conversation that should have been opened could not be started because of the guest's visit. It doesn't matter. Death always comes after life. We'll talk tomorrow. That night we went to a restaurant called Kong Yiji for dinner. Chen Tushou, the author of "Life is sick, who knows", and other partners came to see him. When I got there, I also loved Jiang Wen and his friends. It's a table full of people anyway. In the environment of China, congratulate him on starting to eat after his 50th birthday. He smoked, drank and said something that day. He said he didn't dare to move all morning to save his strength. He said a mountain carving has been around for 50 years. He said to be healthy, not to mention to live a long life.

In recent years, I have visited Shi Tiesheng every time I go to Beijing. Sit with him for two or three hours and have a meal. The couple invited me to live in their house, but I always declined. I came and went in a hurry. I could have talked more when I stayed, but his health couldn't help being disturbed by the guests. His paraplegia, his kidney atrophy, in his words, is that the engine and wheels are broken, and it is very tired to keep his body running. Renal dialysis two or three times a week can't help interrupting his life and thinking.

Apart from his physical strength and energy, I feel sorry for him and can't smoke any more. My conversation with him is no different from ordinary people. We had a good talk. In fact, disability lacks everything, but it can't be realized. His thinking is often deeper than others, and he has his own reason and rhythm. He is a novelist, and one of the biggest reasons why I like reading his works is that his ideas and words are clear and clear, and he has never been possessed by ghosts. His hands are always warm and generous. He can transcend wisdom and stupidity. He doesn't pretend, but he often examines his heart. He despises himself so that he can love himself and the world.

Shi Tiesheng usually doesn't complain. He knows how to be grateful and knows many meanings hidden under the proposition of life. Others walk on their legs and measure the earth. He began to think from his legs and observe his heart. He often obsesses over those inescapable propositions, and after a long time, it becomes a habit and fun. His ideas are all reasoned and demonstrated, and there are clear clues to be found. But people who listen to him are often too lazy to follow his ideas because their legs are good and their kidneys are good. He is more studying in the distant Qingping Bay. Ditan and I, life is like a string. Only he can write such a story. When reading, I think that the water in the rough waves is crystal clear, so I can stand on my tassel.

Reading Shi Tiesheng's articles and having a dialogue with him will not get narrower and narrower. He has kidney deficiency but no moisture. With the joy of being suddenly enlightened, he finally walked out of the narrow gap of survival. I often stand outside myself and take pleasure in mocking myself. He's not. He keeps his whole self and is still happy. After that short gap, happiness is definitely no longer publicity, it should be called joy. He is a man who balances hardship and joy and is not easy to be crushed. Many games have nothing to do with him. He is no longer lost. He can look at himself or at God's workmanship.

Finally, I want to talk about Chen Ximi, his wife. She is "our Shanghainese" and has been in the north for a long time. What I will never forget is her smile, which is the smile of an angel. Angels' smiles are those that forget their troubles, forget themselves and come and go freely, making those who see them laugh. No one smiles better than her. The data I read is that children laugh 150 times a day, and adults can stop laughing once a day. She often smiles, bright and obedient. With her smile, the dignified 50-year-old Shi Tiesheng has no reason or need to dress up as a martyr. Life is like this, smiling for a while and being heavy for a while.

I went to Beijing this time with my wife. Maybe next time I go to Beijing to see Shi Tiesheng, I will be in a wheelchair. We will discuss the brand of wheelchair, talk about the greatness of football and say some funny things. I can say responsibly that even in a wheelchair, I can still crave sex, be ruthless and be mean. Of course, you can also set a trap for yourself in the middle of the night, read Shi Tiesheng's words silently and feel the breath of life.
