Guangdong Chaozhou Opera Development and Reform Foundation held its inaugural meeting in Guangdong International Hotel. Guangdong provincial leaders,,, Lin Musheng, veteran comrades, Lin Ruo, Ma, a well-known person, Gong, former deputy prime minister of Thailand and chairman of Thailand-China Friendship Association. Cai Dongshi, deputy secretary of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and honorary chairman of Guangdong Chaozhou Opera Development and Reform Foundation, proposed at the inaugural meeting that the foundation should be established to promote the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation, promote the inheritance, reform and innovation of Chaozhou Opera art, and cultivate and bring up outstanding talents of Chaozhou Opera art. Cai Dongshi hopes that all sectors of society will continue to care for and support the foundation's work so that Chaozhou Opera, a wonderful flower in the south of China, will shine more brilliantly under the new historical conditions.

In order to cooperate with the establishment of Guangdong Chaozhou Opera Development and Reform Foundation, under the proposal of Guangdong Federation of Literary and Art Circles, China Academy of Art, Guangdong Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Guangdong Chaozhou Opera Development and Reform Foundation jointly held 2006 Chaozhou Opera (Guangzhou) International Culture Week on 10/0/day. Presented 13 repertoires such as Princess Wu Dong, Cilangzhou, Spring Grass Rushing to the Hall, Tell Your Husband, Xi Shi Gui Yue, Golden Flower Girl and Queen China to Thai Chaozhou Opera lovers. This performance in Thailand is the first time that Guangdong Chaozhou Opera Troupe has visited Thailand after a lapse of thirteen years, and it is also the first time that Chaozhou Opera Troupe has been invited to perform in Thailand in the name of Chaozhou Guild Hall.

Yao Yingjie, deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the Municipal Party Committee and director of Wenguang New Bureau, served as consultant, Yao Xuanqiu, a famous Chaozhou opera performer, served as art consultant, Zhu Honglin, secretary of the Party Committee of Guangdong Chaozhou Theatre, served as head, and Ma Lieyong, vice president, served as deputy head. This troupe is very famous and has a strong lineup, with 79 people, which is the highest in the history of visiting performances.
