Is Hu Zongxian a hero or a criminal against the enemy?

Hu Zongxian who fought against the enemy was a hero. His courage and originality are truly extraordinary. He can be called a competent minister and a rare talent. However, his personality is controversial because of his connection with powerful people, his snobbery and his profligacy.

Although Hu Zongxian's death was the result of political struggle, it was also the bane of his own hands. It is indeed a great achievement for Hu Zongxian to control the Japanese aggressors who have troubled the Ming Dynasty for many years, but he is not aboveboard.

Hu Zongxian first befriended Zhao Wenhua and Yan's father and son, and then Hu Zongxian embezzled his salary and lived a luxurious and lewd life. Hu Zongxian, known as the "Governor of Yinshan", collected huge sums of money by increasing taxes in Zhejiang and demanding to keep Zhejiang salt and silver. What he did will naturally arouse criticism from North Korean ministers.

In May of the forty-first year of Jiajing, Yan Song was dismissed from office and his son Yan Shifan was arrested. Hu Zongxian was repeatedly promoted by Yan Song's adopted son Zhao Wenhua. In the eyes of many ministers, he belongs to the strict party. Zhao Wenhua died, Yan Song fell out of favor, and Hu Zongxian's situation was naturally in jeopardy.
