Representative Works of Four Schools of Yue Opera

1, heartbroken man by Yuan Pai.

"heartbroken man" was performed in the early stage of the reform of Yue Opera, so it was mainly based on "four tones". However, in the second half of this aria (from Rinrin Copper Pot Can't Stop Leaking), in order to express the tragic feelings of the people in the play, Yuan Xuefen used tone sandhi on the basis of the original "four tones", so that the melody naturally extended to the bass area.

For example, "Jingle bells, louder rumbling upstairs", through the use of bass, the palace tune is alternately changed to the next four degrees, adding tragic colors, vividly revealing the bleak scene of rainy nights and the despair and pain inside the characters. This song, which used a lot of bass before singing, became the characteristic voice of Yuan Xuefen.

Fan Pai's Chord Down has a strong melody and a long lyrical tune. As the initiator of "chord downward adjustment", Fan Ruijuan constantly innovates and expands the function of this tune. According to different characters' personalities, feelings and environments, different "sub-chord cavities" are created, and different methods are adopted in creating cavities and singing.

In the aria "On the Road" and "Visiting Wife", Yin Guifang organically integrated the early "four-part" of Yue Opera with the Yin school singing, with beautiful and smooth voice. In the aria of Crying for Fortune Telling, Suzhou Tanci and Hangzhou Wuling Tune are borrowed to make it full of comedy. These aria have been included in Textual Research of Yue Opera published by Shanghai Literature and Art Publishing House 1982.

Disciples of Yin School regard this play as a play that Yin School is good at, and many disciples have performed it.

4. Fu sent "detectives"

The traditional drama "Love Detective" of Yue Opera is from the Ming legend "Burning Incense", which is reserved for Shanghai Yue Theatre and is one of Fu Quanxiang's representative works.

The main plot is as follows: Wang Kui, the first juror, met Guiying, a famous prostitute, and got married. Wang Kui went to Beijing to catch the exam and was ungrateful after winning the first prize. After getting the divorce certificate, Guiying went to the Temple of the Sea to cry about Wang Kui's crime, hanged himself, and finally sentenced the little devil to take Wang Kui alive.
