In the second year of Gande in the Northern Song Dynasty (964), Tongshan County was established in the Southern Tang Dynasty (according to the year number of the Northern Song Dynasty), named after Toarey Yang and Qingshan towns, and transferred to Ezhou. In the eighth year of Kaibao (975), it belonged to Jiangnan Road. In the first year of Taiping Xingguo (976), it belonged to Yongxing Army of Jinghu Road, Xingguo Army of Jiangnan West Road in the second year, Yangshan Town in the third year, and soon became a county. In the first year of Chongning (1 102), it belonged to the army of Xingguo in Jiangxi Road, and it was in Shaoxing for four years in the Southern Song Dynasty (1 134). In the first year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1368), it belonged to Xingguo County, Wuchang Prefecture (1376).

In the third year of Kangxi in Qing Dynasty (1664), it belonged to Wuchang House.

During the Republic of China, Tongshan County was always under the jurisdiction of Hubei Province. The first year (19 12) belongs to Area 1, the third year (19 14) belongs to Jianghan Road, and the sixth year (1927) belongs to Hubei Province. 1930 when the Soviet government was established, it was under the jurisdiction of the southeastern Soviet area of Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi and Hubei. After 1933, the revolution tended to ebb, the Soviet area gradually turned to the marginal mountainous area, and the Kuomintang party and government area expanded. After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), in March 1950, Daye Administrative Office placed Xia Yan, Dafan and Huangsha in Yangxin County under Tongshan.
