Chaoyang in Shantou is a district. Chaoyang District, Shantou City is located in the southeast of Guangdong Province, bordering the South China Sea, and is named Chaoyang because it is located in the north of the sea. In the first year of Long 'an in the Eastern Jin Dynasty in Chaoyang (AD 397), a county was established.1April 1993, the county was withdrawn to establish a city (county level). In March, 2003, with the approval of the State Council, the area was divided into Chaoyang District and Chaonan District, which were under the jurisdiction of Shantou City. After the zoning adjustment, Chaoyang District has jurisdiction over four streets of Wenguang, Mianbei, Chengnan and Jinpu, and nine towns of Haimen, Heping, Gurao, Guiyu, Tongyu, Hexi, Xiqiao, Guanbu and Jinzao, and there are 727 rural grassroots organizations, including 202 village committees and 93 neighborhood committees, with a zoning area of 674.67 square kilometers, including urban areas.
