As early as the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, there lived a man named Yao on the south bank of the Yellow River in Xiapi South. In A.D. 182 (the fifth year of Guanghe), Sun Jian was named Xiapi City, and when she got her second son, Sun Quan's mother loved tofu, which was bought by the chef from a family named Yao in Yaojiawei village on the south bank of the Yellow River. At that time, there was a large area of thatched wasteland under the Yellow River weir south of Xiapi City. More than a dozen families with five surnames, Yao, Wu, Sun, Cheng and Lin, who live here are all immigrants from other places. Given that the Yao family is a relatively complete family in it runs in the family, and there is an old man in his 60s, who is very decent, always loves to do good deeds and is willing to unite with others, his family is really a filial family. Under the influence of the Yao family, residents with other surnames naturally call this place Yaojiazhuang. Where there are temple fairs, there are businessmen gathering. Due to the large area of weeds in this area, the people raise more mules, horses, cattle and sheep, and the temple fair mainly trades large livestock every day. People also call it "Mule and Horse Fair". Later, after the temple fair, there were still small businesses operating here for a long time. Another businessman named Lin set up a peanut market on this weir, and solicited the opinions of businessmen, stipulating that the third, eighth, fifth and tenth day of the lunar calendar should be the gathering day every year. In the long run, it is naturally called Yao Jia Xu Ji. In the early years of Qing Dynasty, it was also called Yao Ji for short.

In the tenth year of Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty, Yao Yi once again led the construction of Yaojiaji, mainly reinforcing and heightening the dam, and the perimeter was expanded to 1.386 meters, further ensuring the market safety in flood season. During the Xuan Tong period, Yao Jiwei changed his name to Yao Jizhai. /kloc-changed its name to Yao Ji district in 0/7. In September, 1957, the district was merged into the township and renamed as Yao Ji Township. 1958 September, renamed Yao Ji People's Commune. /kloc-0 changed its name to Yao Ji Township in April, 1983. In April 2004, the original Zhangwei Township, Liuji Orchard and Yao Ji Township merged into Yao Ji Town. It is the largest town in the county with the largest land area and the second largest population. There are two industrial parks in the town, namely, building materials processing and plate processing. Cocoons, Italian poplar, fruits, special diet tofu, dog meat and other agricultural products are famous at home and abroad.
