Where is Dalian Baoshan?

Paotai Mountain, located in the starting area of Dalian Development Zone, was called Xujiashan in history. In the late Qing Dynasty, the Qing government built a coastal defense project in Dalian Bay on 1887 in order to build the Beiyang Navy. At that time, six forts were to be built in the coastal defense project around Dalian Bay, among which Xujiashan was a land defense fort.

It is adjacent to Dahengshan in the north, which can control the access between Jinzhou and Dagushan, Dayao Bay in the east and Dalian Bay in the west. It is in a dangerous position, separated from Heshang Island by Hongtuduizi Bay and Dagushan Bay.

Gun Mountain is 76 meters above sea level, and the former Xujiashan Mountain is more than 90 meters above sea level. When building the fort, 20 meters were cut off, and the soil in the high place was filled in the low place to level the top of the mountain. Xujiashan Fort is180m long from east to west and 70m wide from north to south. It is shaped like a crow with its mouth facing southeast.

Tip for climbing Mount Tai:

1. The entrance to the mountain is in Shanling Lane Community near Zhongnan Road Harbor Hospital, or in Shanling Street Shanling North Lane and Siergou Chunhai Street Second Lane. There is also an entrance that is difficult to walk on the dirt road in the mountains, just in the mountain street on the east side of the botanical garden.

2. The wooden plank road on the ridge is very convenient, and the rest pavilion at the top of the mountain can overlook the whole Donggang, the seaport pier and the downtown area.

There are many small dirt roads on the mountain, which are not suitable for walking alone.

The slopes on both sides of the ridge are steep, so adults should take care of children as much as possible.
