Very interesting Putian dialect culture

Putian dialect, also known as Puxian dialect, Xinghua dialect and local dialect, is distributed in the southern coastal areas of China and Fujian. It is distributed in Putian City, Xianyou County and parts of Quangang, Fuqing and Yongtai, belonging to the Sino-Tibetan Min language family.

Puxian dialect is also called Xinghua dialect because it belongs to Xinghua army and Xinghua government in history. The intangible cultural heritage with Puxian dialect as the carrier includes Puxian Opera. Xinghua dialect belongs to Minhai dialect of Chinese dialect.

The intangible cultural heritage with Puxian dialect as the carrier includes Puxian Opera and Puxian Puppet Opera. Putian dialect plays an important role in the whole language system. Putian dialect began to appear in the Western Han Dynasty, the Eastern Jin Dynasty and the Southern Dynasties, and was formed in the Southern Sui Dynasty. The Han people in the Central Plains brought ancient Chinese to the south, so the source of Putian dialect is mainly the Central Plains orthodox language in the Western Jin Dynasty. More than half of Putian dialect and Taiwanese are interoperable.

Over the years, with the popularization of Putonghua, the popularization of Putian dialect has been seriously impacted. Puxian dialect with a long history is facing the crisis of extinction. As a native of Putian, Fujian, everyone should consciously participate in the action of protecting Putian dialect.
