Pottery unearthed from hejia village site

These gold and silver wares were discovered in the 1970s. It was the afternoon of June 5th, 1970. In a shelter (now Hydrological Lane) in hejia village, the southern suburb of Xi, the construction site is busy. As usual, migrant workers lay the foundation, lay the foundation and move the soil.

When the underground foundation was dug to 0.8 meters above the surface, a gray pottery urn suddenly appeared. "It's a baby!" I don't know who shouted, but the migrant workers all left their buddies around. As soon as the lid of the urn was opened, my eyes were glittering and my eyes were sour.

"There is gold!" The person in charge of the shelter quickly reported the situation to the revolutionary Committee at that time and finally went to the Shaanxi Provincial Museum. Provincial Museum immediately sent Han Wei, Luo Zhongru, Hang Dezhou, Wang Yuqing and other comrades to clean up. "In order to seize the time, we arrived at the scene in the only car of the provincial museum at that time," Han Wei recalled. "This is an American jeep during World War II."

While protecting the scene, experts continue to explore around. 1970 65438+1October 1 1, not far from the north side of the first pottery urn, after the archaeologists smashed it with a Luoyang shovel, the shovel suddenly flashed, followed by a clear metallic sound, "There are goods!" . They quickly cleaned up the living soil around them with a hand shovel, and the second pottery urn was exposed. Its size and shape are basically the same as the first pottery urn, but it is covered with a layer of silver slag.

Mr. Dai, the first person to open this earthenware urn, recalled that the mouth of the urn was a square piece of jade, with silver plates and bowls piled under it. The golden basin, basket, patterned gold cup, jade belt, silver box and silver jar of the gilded parrot are all in it, which is amazing. Luoyang shovel just made a hole in the lower part of the urn and hit it directly on a pile of silver plates. There was a gap between the plates, so the shovel flashed when digging. Open the lid of the silver jar of the gilded parrot beam, which still contains water. There are several pieces of gold foil floating on the water, 12 small golden dragons standing neatly on it, and all the red, green and sapphire are in the water.

Archaeologists also found a small silver jar next to the pottery urn, where the exquisite agate cup (now the treasure of the town hall of Shaanxi History Museum) was lying. The agate cup is 6.5cm high,15.6cm long and 5.9cm in diameter. It is made of a whole piece of red agate, which is rare in the world. It is gorgeous in color and beautiful in shape. The shape of the cup imitates the horn of an animal, so it is also called a horn cup. The bottom of the cup is in the shape of a bull's head, and the decoration center of the whole cup is also in the bull's head. This animal's mouth is inlaid with gold, and its lips have tiny pores and beards. The cow's eyes are wide open, and its two corners are long and curved. The corners are connected to both sides of the cup mouth respectively, and the ears stand back. It's really vivid. This agate cup has obvious western characteristics, but some scholars firmly believe that it should be made by craftsmen in the Tang Dynasty. At the beginning of the production, the animal head cup may also want to imitate western fashion and adopt the shape of antelope, but because of the unfamiliar theme, it has become the present face. It was made in the early 8th century. Such an object with rich connotation is rare in artistic value because of its unique cultural value.
