The girl in white gauze is a legend I have heard since childhood. Legend has it that Huang Chao, the leader of the peasant uprising army in the late Tang Dynasty, was chased by Tang Jun after the uprising failed, and was blocked by the turbulent Xin 'anjiang River when he fled to Baisha Ferry. Just as she was so anxious, the white gauze in the hand of Baisha girl who was washing gauze by the river waved into the air and immediately turned into a white bridge. Her story has been handed down from generation to generation, and people have erected a statue of Baisha girl to commemorate her. The legend of this story lies in that my hometown is in jiande city, Zhejiang, and the seat of the municipal government is called Xin 'anjiang; Because it is named Xin 'anjiang because of a river. The name of Xin 'anjiang before 1992 was named after this legend, and it was called "Baisha". For a long time, Xin 'anjiang has been ferried by boatmen, and the river floods regularly, which often blocks people's access, so there is a folk song "Travel all over the world and regret Baishadu" in my hometown. It was not until 1950s that the first bridge on Xin 'an River, Baisha Bridge, was completed that this period of history ended. This stone arch bridge has a beautiful shape, and the stone lions on the bridge railings are beautifully carved, comparable to the Lugou Bridge in Beijing.
