Since the eight characters are predestined, why should we worship Buddha and believe in Buddha?

If you are doomed to a car accident, what you do will determine the severity of your accident. If you do too many bad things, the situation may be very serious. If you are kind and do good things at ordinary times, you may only get a slight scratch and won't get hurt. Everything is of my own making.
