Appreciation of Su Shi's "Divination Operator-Hanging the Moon and Dredging the Tung"

At night, it suddenly becomes afraid, suddenly flies and comes back frequently, but no one always understands its infinite inner feelings. It kept wandering among the cold branches, but refused to perch on any tree, and finally landed alone on the cold shoal.

The waning moon hung high on the sparse phoenix tree, and the crowd began to be quiet with the drip. Who can see a lonely person walking alone, like a lonely goose? It suddenly remembered and hurried back, but no one could understand it with hatred in his heart. It took all the cold branches and refused to live, but hid in a lonely sandbar and was willing to suffer.

Creation background

According to historical records, this word was written in Song Shenzong in December of the fifth year of Yuanfeng (1082) or in Huangzhou at the beginning of the sixth year of Yuanfeng (1083). Dinghui Garden is located in the southeast of Huanggang County, Hubei Province, also known as Dinghui Garden. Su Shi has another article, You Ding Hui Yuan.

As can be seen from the above, this poem was written by Su Shi when he first demoted Huangzhou to live in Dinghuiyuan. Su Shi was demoted as the deputy envoy of Huangzhou Youth League Training because of the so-called "Wutai Poetry Case". Su Shi moved to Huangzhou from February in the third year of Yuanfeng (1080) to June in the seventh year of Yuanfeng (1084), and lived in Huangzhou for more than four years.
