Quanzhou Mazu Tempel fortune-telling

Where is Mazu Tempel? Meizhou Island, Mazu Tempel

Mazu is a kind of god believed by residents in coastal areas of China, especially fishermen. Before going out to sea, everyone will worship Mazu for peace and everything will go well. It has gradually become an influential local folk belief. This is where Mazu Tempel is.

During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, when the sea was forbidden and Quanzhou Port declined, a large number of people crossed Taiwan Province Province to Nanyang for their livelihood. Mazu belief also spread more widely with the footprints of businessmen and immigrants. In Taiwan Province Province, the name of Tianhou Temple in Quanzhou is "Wenling Ma".

Meizhou citang

Meizhou Mazu Tempel is located in Meizhou Island, Putian City, "the place where Mazu belief is passed down". Meizhou Island is named after its shape like Emei, with an area of 14 square kilometers. The four seasons here are like spring, trees are shaded, the sky is blue and the water is clear, and the air is fresh.

This island has beautiful scenery. There are nine golden beaches called "the first beach in the world", a unique Japanese-style pit called "natural bonsai", a magical goose tail mountain and a swan song called Mei Yu Yin Chao.

Mazu introduced

Mazu, whose real name is Lin and whose name is Mo Niang, is a statue of Mazu in Putian County. She has only lived in the world for 28 years, but her name has been told by people 1000 years. It is said that she was unknown from birth to the full moon.

She learned water from an early age, knew the sound of tides, and looked at the stars. When she grows up, she can "get a glimpse of the whole leopard" and "turn wood into a boat" to rescue sunken ships again and again. She once held high the torch and burned her house into a blazing flame to guide the lost merchant ship. She is determined not to marry, with the ultimate goal of helping poor families.

1September 9, 987, she died while rescuing a ship in distress at the mouth of Meizhou Bay. She is only 28 years old. After her death, her soul is still associated with the Great sea and the sky. When the wind and waves are heavy and the mast is broken, she will become a woman in red, standing on the cloud, guiding the merchant ship to meet bad luck.

For thousands of years, in order to commemorate this brave and kind woman, people have built temples to worship her everywhere. From the 5th year of Xuanhe in Song Huizong (A.D. 1 123) to the Qing Dynasty, 14 emperors conferred her the title of "Goddess of Heaven" and "Goddess of Sea" 36 times, which was admired by the world.

There are some landscapes near Mazu Tempel, such as Ascending to Heaven Monument, Guanlan Stone, Mazu Mirror and Mazu Mirror Yin Chao Cave, and there are some cultural relics in the temple, such as rebuilt steles, Jin 'an and imperial plaques.

The inscription of "Ascending to Heaven Monument" is engraved on a huge stone wall behind the Mazu Tempel Sleeping Hall, and there is a small line beside it: abbot and monk knock on the primitive ocean of the world. On the stone wall, you can vaguely see the "goddess temple" thousands of years ago and the "human" shape with only a few rafters missing.

Standing here, looking west, the Xiangang on the other side is faintly visible. According to legend, Mo Niang ascended to heaven in the nearby "stone drum".
