Jinsheng Pagoda, located on the east side of Jinshengta Street in Xihu District, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, outside Jinxianmen, Nanchang City, was built in the Tang You period (904-907), and the existing pagoda was built in the fifty-second year of Qing Emperor Kangxi (17 13).

Jinsheng Pagoda is a typical brick-wood pavilion-style building in the south of the Yangtze River, with a height of 50.86 meters. The tower has seven floors and eight sides, and it is splayed inside and outside. Its bamboo pillars and blue tiles, clean walls of ink corners, golden gourd-shaped roof, strong religious color, elegant cornices and hanging copper bells. The scenic spot covers an area of 30,000 square meters, with 1,000 Buddhist temples and a Confucius Memorial Hall (Confucius Temple).

The development of history

During the reign of Tang Tianyou (904-907), the Golden Sage Tower was built. At the end of Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of Ming Dynasty, Chen Youliang and Zhu Yuanzhang fought Nanchang, and the Jinsheng Tower was destroyed by fire. In the first year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1368), Jinsheng Pagoda was rebuilt.

In the fifty-second year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty (17 13), because the tower was in disrepair for a long time, "all the servants were on the ground, and there was no tile left", which was rebuilt under the auspices of Governor Tong Guoyu. It was rebuilt many times in Tongzhi for four years (1739), twenty years (1755), two years (1822) and seven years (1868).

In the 22nd year of Guangxu (1886), the tower was struck by lightning and some of its basic structures were burned. Later, after the disaster in the 1960 s, only brick towers and gourd-shaped towers were left in the whole tower.
