Therefore, in the later study process, in order to inspire Zhong Ping, his parents renamed him Xu Heng.

The story of "Kong Rong makes pears" has been told for thousands of years, while the story of "Xu Heng doesn't pick pears" has been told for nearly thousands of years. According to Yuan history, one summer, Xu Heng passed by Heyang (now Mengzhou, Henan Province) and was very thirsty. Suddenly, he found a pear forest by the roadside, where pears had just grown. People in the same trade compete to pick pears to quench their thirst. But only Xu Heng sat under the tree, unmoved.

The children ate pears and asked Xu Heng why he didn't pick them. Answer: "If you don't have it, you can't take it." People say, "The world is in chaos, and there is no owner here." Xu Heng said to him, "Pear has no owner, but heart has no owner?" When he moved from Shandong to Hebei, people saw his virtue and were willing to follow him.

After the unrest was settled, Xu Heng traveled between Luohe and Luoyang, and got letters from Los Angeles and New Zhu An from the Medicine Book in Liaocheng, which benefited a lot. He soon lived in Sumen Mountain (now worshipping springs in Huixian County, Xinxiang) and studied under Yao Shu and Dou Mo.
