Why can't we take pictures of our ancestors?

Folklore, people used to think that the camera was a thing that bound the soul. Even when westerners came to the Qing Dynasty and were beaten out for taking pictures, the custom of not letting people take pictures gradually changed from "not even taking pictures" to "not taking pictures in front of ancestral graves" to prevent the souls of ancestors from being "bound".
