Most of the early settlements in Hongqiao District appeared in the Yuan Dynasty, mostly distributed in places with bends on both sides of the South Canal and the west bank of the North Canal, such as Houjia, Xidawanzi Yongfengtun, Liangjiazui, Zhaojiachang, Dinggu and Xigu.

From 65438 to 0949, on the eve of Tianjin liberation, the South Canal was the boundary, and most of Hongqiao District was in Hebei, which was Tianjin District 9. East to the North Canal, south to the South Canal, west to the old city boundary, and north to the North Canal.
