How can I be as happy as Maitreya!

Learn Buddhism and practice.

Take precepts as teachers

How to learn Buddhism is a problem that we often hear. Many friends learn Buddhism and read the Sanzang classics, but they can't start. I am at a loss in the face of schools such as Zen, purity and knowledge-only. Buddhism is vast, just like the vast ocean. How can we find the right direction and quick way here, so that we can get the infinite benefits of Buddhism in this life? In fact, Sakyamuni Buddha has already pointed out the rules for us. Sanzang Buddhism is not without a trace. The principle of how to learn Buddhism is simple.

The question that friends who study Buddhism often ask is, what method should I learn? Should I read Buddha? Or should I keep a spell? Is it time to meditate? Or should we stop? Many people are wandering in such hesitation. There are many sayings. Some people say that we should study deeply, while others say that we should take various courses. Some people say that it is necessary to study systematically, others say that it is too much trouble, and chanting Buddha is enough. In these mixed comments, we don't know how to learn and how to fix it. Some people even have no feelings and interests year after year, and they don't feel how happy they are to learn Buddhism. Why is this?

The reason is that we didn't study according to the teachings of the Buddha. We were blinded by the complexity mentioned above and lost our way. These contents are actually only details, and we have absolutely no need to worry about these issues. Because these are all methods of practice, not principles of practice. Just like we want to achieve a goal, the map in our hand is to guide us. This is the principle and purpose. So we go by boat and by car. This is the method. If we pay too much attention to the difference of methods and ignore the direction we want to travel, then of course we will not reach our destination.

The principle is actually very simple. The Shurangama Sutra says: You often hear me say that practice determines righteousness. The so-called heart-taking is a warning. Because of abstinence, life is decided. Wise by making decisions. If there is, it's called "three don't let go" Abstinence from wisdom is the principle and the direction for us to learn Buddhism. It is our purpose to learn Buddhism to set our mind and wisdom by precept. Controlling your heart, not doing evil, and pursuing good deeds are the commandments. From the discipline of achievement, meditation will be born, and from meditation, wisdom will be born.

As long as we practice according to this principle, we will all achieve something and benefit. You should seek the blessing of living, go to the pure land, get meditation, argue without hindrance, or you can get it if there is no problem. But if you don't practice according to this principle, the result will be very limited and even have side effects.

Buddhist scriptures say: After my death, we should respect Mu Cha. If we meet in the dark, the poor will get treasure. You know, this is your master, and if I live in this world, it won't make any difference. Later generations summarized this sentence as "taking precepts as teachers." Buddha said: After I am gone, I should respect the precepts, just like the night meets the light, just like the poor get the treasure. You know, commandments are your great teachers, just as I taught them in the world.

Why did the Buddha teach us this way? Because it's our fault! We all have our own purposes in learning Buddhism, whether it is happiness or wisdom, and we have various wishes in details. But how to achieve these goals? With what? It depends on the ring. Take the heart as a warning. The first step in learning Buddhism is to learn this. The way you use it is personal, and there is absolutely no fixed pattern. Read Buddha? Holding a spell? Read that classic? These are all methods, which can't sum up the meaning of taking the heart as a warning, because we ordinary people, even monks, rarely have the opportunity to recite Buddha and hold spells for 24 hours in this society. I will not retreat and meditate every day. These are all ways to help. Taking the heart as a warning is to correct yourself to a normal state, protect yourself well and stay away from the pain of bad karma. This is the foundation and cornerstone of our study of Buddhism. Without this article, it is impossible to achieve anything in any case. Even a little blessing is hard to get.

Friends who study Buddhism must pay attention to this. The first step in learning Buddhism is not to think about how to settle down and how to get supernatural power induction. Because blessings and wisdom are produced by precepts. It is often seen that some fellow initiates set their goal as "one mind without chaos", in previous lives, and in realizing their wishes as soon as they learn Buddhism. But what are the commandments? I don't know. What are good and evil? I don't know what to say or do. It's no use studying like this any longer. Why? Good karma comes from good karma. If we don't practice good karma, where can we achieve our wishes? I'm not confused, but I'm sure. How did it come into being? Is determined by abstinence. If the evil karma of body and mind continues and you want to be single-minded, it's simply fish to fish.

On the contrary, as long as you take the heart as a warning, then everything is easy to say. You don't need a special method, you have to decide for yourself. People without greed, resentment, jealousy and Jaken will naturally settle down. No matter what method we use, we can easily benefit and succeed.

Take the former pure land as an example. Everyone is very hopeful. It is clearly stated in Guan Wu Tian Shou Jing. If you want to live on your own, you must at least be a domestic product. So what are the minimum requirements for China products? Academic achievement. Without this condition, it is useless for you to learn Buddhism no matter how much, and you will not be completely sure. Everything is unknown. Why? We will explain it in detail in the following ten acts of kindness.

Learning Buddhism is a very simple and happy thing. We should grasp the principle of "taking precepts as teachers". As long as it is implemented, we will be on the road of learning Buddhism. It's not how many buddhas we read or kowtow, which means that we have practice, which means that we are disciples of buddhas, but no.

Introduction to hard work

Master Xu Yun revealed.

There are many ways to do things diligently. Now briefly:

(A) the premise of doing Tao-believing in cause and effect

No matter who you are, especially those who want to work hard, you must first believe in cause and effect. If you don't believe in cause and effect, you will do stupid things. Don't say that running is unsuccessful, all three aspects will be indispensable. Buddha said, "If you want to know the cause of past lives, you will be the recipient of this life. Want to know the afterlife, the author of this life is. He also said, "If there were hundreds of robberies, the industry would not die. Karma, karma. The Shurangama Sutra says: "Because the land is not true, the name of the fruit is bent." Therefore, planting good results will lead to good results. Evil leads to bad consequences. As you sow, you reap. This is an inevitable truth.

(2) Strictly observe the precepts

Work hard and keep the precepts first. Discipline is the foundation of supreme bodhi, because discipline can bring health and wisdom. If you practice without discipline, there is nothing you can do. The four pure and clear methods in the Shurangama Sutra tell us that if you practice samadhi, you won't keep the precepts and the dust won't come out. Even if we are wise and meditate, we will fall into evil ways, so we can know the importance of keeping precepts.

The preceptor was embraced by dragon day, and dragon day imitated awe. Break the precepts, ghost thieves, sweep their footprints. Once upon a time, on the land near Sangala, Kebin, a poisonous dragon often came out to harm this place. There are 500 arhats gathered together, and they can't get rid of him with meditation. Later, another monk, instead of meditating, only said to the dragon, "Fairy Mountain is far from here." The dragon has escaped. Arhat asked the monk. What avatar drove the dragon away? He said: "I don't have to meditate, but I have been abstaining from abstinence, just like abstinence." Think about it, the meditation power of 500 arhats is not as good as that of a monk who strictly observes the precepts.

Or the cloud, the sixth ancestor said, "Why bother to keep the precepts in times of peace?" What's the use of straight meditation? " I asked, is your heart straight? One month, Chang 'e held you naked. Can you not be tempted? Someone insults you unreasonably, can you not feel resentful? Can't you distinguish between unjust relatives and enemies, and between people and me? If you can do all this, you can speak, otherwise don't talk empty words.

(3) strengthen confidence

If we want to strive to achieve Tao, we must first have solid confidence, and trust is the mother of Tao's merits. Without self-confidence, you can't do anything well. We should live and die, especially a strong self-confidence. Buddha said: "All beings in the world have the wisdom and virtue of Tathagata, but they can't prove it because of delusion and persistence." And said a variety of methods to treat the heart disease of all beings. Let's just say that when we believe in Buddhism, we believe that all beings can become Buddhas. But why don't we become buddhas? Because I didn't work as hard as the law!

For example, we think that soybeans can be used to make tofu. If you don't make him, soybeans won't turn into tofu by themselves. Even if it is made, the gypsum can't be put well, and the tofu can't be made. If you can grind and cook the residue as usual, and then put a proper amount of gypsum on it, you can decide to make tofu. So is the runway. Of course, you can't become a Buddha without hard work, and you can't become a Buddha without hard work. If you can practice the Dharma, you can become a Buddha without retreating or regretting. Therefore, we must be sure that we are originally a Buddha, and we must also be sure that practicing for the law determines becoming a Buddha. Zen master Yongjia said, "If you prove the truth, there is nothing anyone can do, but in an instant, the business of A-nose is ruined. Deceive all beings, pull out the tongue and rob them. His old man was merciful and wanted to strengthen the confidence of future generations, so he made such a grand oath.

(4) set the door.

Once you have confidence, you should choose a method to practice and never change your mind. Whether you are chanting Buddha, holding a mantra or participating in meditation, you must always recognize one thing, go straight ahead and never regret it. If you don't succeed today, do it tomorrow, if you don't succeed this year, do it next year. If you don't succeed in this life, do it in the afterlife.

The old man in Weishan said: "If life cannot be retired, the Buddha steps regularly." Some people can't make up their minds Today, they heard good knowledge that it is good to recite Buddha, and they will recite Buddha for another two days. Listen to a good knowledge that practicing Zen is good tomorrow, and then take part in Zen for two days. It's a pity that you'll never get anything.
