Brief introduction of baopuzi Taoist temple

Baopuzi Daoyuan is located on the north bank of the beautiful West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, and there is a hill called Geling. This mountain is named after Ge Hong, a famous Taoist priest in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, who used to make an alchemy here. It is said that Ge Hong used to collect medicine for the people in this mountain and put Dan medicine in the well to keep the drinkers from catching the epidemic. He also opened up a mountain road to facilitate pedestrians and did many good things for the local people. Therefore, people called the mountain where he lived Geling and built a "Gexian Temple" to worship it. In the Yuan Dynasty, temples were destroyed by fire. Renovated in the Ming Dynasty, it was renamed "Agate Mountain Residence". In the Qing Dynasty, it was renovated by Gehong Road and renamed as "Baopuzi", which has been in use ever since.

From the shore of the West Lake to the foot of Geling, the first thing I saw was a yellow archway with masonry structure. After passing the archway, I climbed the stairs and soon arrived at the gate of Baopuzi Daoyuan. The courtyard wall outside the gate rises and falls with the mountain, just like a swimming Huanglong, so it is called "Dragon Wall", which is one of the scenic spots of Baopuzi Daoyuan.

The main hall of Baopu Daoyuan is Gexian Hall, dedicated to Gexian Weng (Ge Hong). On the east side of Gexiantang, there are Hongmeige, Baopiao Road and Banxiantang, all of which are exquisite and unique, and are typical quadrangle-style buildings in the south. There is a woodcut gallery in Hongmeige, in which the story of the opera Li Huiniang is very eye-catching. Banxian Hall is a place where Jia Sidao, Prime Minister of Southern Song Dynasty, plays. Now, there is a statue of Cihang in the hall. Taoist temple is surrounded by Gexian Temple Monument, Shuangqian Spring, an alchemist's well, an alchemist's platform, early balcony and other places of interest. Gexian Temple Monument was erected in Wanli period of Ming Dynasty. The inscription describes Ge Hong's life, the experience of building an alchemist's house, the construction of temples in past dynasties and the sacrificial activities with concise brushwork and fluent language. The water quality of the hospital's Shuangqianquan is sweet, and it is said that drinking it often can prolong life. There is a balcony at the top of Geling, which is a stone terrace and a good place to watch the sunrise. When the sun rises in the morning, the sky looks like Crimson Lotus, the rising sun looks like a huge plate, and the sea is changing. This is a miracle. The ancients called this scene "pilgrimage to the East China Sea". At first, there was an alchemy platform under the balcony, where Ge Hong 'an furnace was used for alchemy. There is an alchemy well next to the alchemy platform, which is used by Ge Hong for alchemy. The water quality is clear and will not dry up after a long drought. It is said that the water flowing through the stones in this well is like Dan. The water overflows when tourists look at it for a long time, and decreases when people go, as deep as Jiang Haitong.

Baopuzi Taoist Temple has been listed as one of the national key temples and is the seat of Hangzhou Taoist Association. Since 1982, Taoist priests have resumed normal religious activities, temples, pavilions and pavilions have been repaired, and cultural relics and historic sites have been properly protected. Because it is located on the bank of the West Lake, pilgrims weave every day.
