People are thought-oriented and knowledge-oriented. Why practice? Because since we were born, due to the expansion of self-awareness, all problems, phenomena and facts have been distorted by subjective thoughts. If you do not practice, you will continue to be distorted. The environment we live in is an abnormal environment, and the heart is a changed heart. If we don't practice, we will live very hard.

When it comes to cultivating the heart, we must first figure out which heart to cultivate. How many hearts do you have? There are at least two classifications. Confucianism says yet I feel the harmonious heart-beat of the Sacred Unicorn. Buddha said: "The heart is the source of evil." He also said, "It is the heart that is the Buddha, and it is the heart that is the Buddha." Therefore, there are two kinds of hearts.

These two kinds of hearts are not dissected, and the second kind of heart began to form when we were born. When I was a teenager, my prototype was basically completed. After I finished my studies, I entered social work, my heart was constantly strengthened and my thoughts were constantly buried. It's not true that we were born with a heart. Buddha said, "The heart is the source of evil." He also said, "It is the heart that is the Buddha, and it is the heart that is the Buddha." Is it a contradiction? No, the heart is the source of evil, the heart is false, it is human heart; The heart that can become a Buddha is sincere and genuine.

How is the human heart formed? It is the opposition between root and dust, the self-consciousness of the seventh consciousness and the separation consciousness of the sixth consciousness. Through receiving, seeing and taking the five senses, the surface consciousness is formed over time. It turns out that there is a layer of dirt on the surface of the heart, which is what we often call ourselves. The Buddha said that there is no self, aiming at our superficial consciousness, saying that this is not you, and there is no you at all. If you think this is yourself, or your heart, it is absolutely incorrect.

It is the heart that is the Buddha, the heart that is the Buddha, the original heart, the Mahabharata, the natural state of the heart, and the total phase of life. This heart is self-sufficient, self-bright, self-complete and does not need to be repaired. What is the heart that needs to be repaired? Is our surface consciousness.

The surface consciousness conceals and buries our original true, bright, complete and full-fledged nature, and what needs to be cultivated is this false illusion-surface consciousness. The ancients said that to cultivate the truth with falsehood is not to cultivate the dharma body through the body, but to correct, restore and discover our original sincerity through our hypocritical superficial consciousness.

If I ask you if you have a heart? You will say that I have a heart, I know, I know, I will not give the money in my pocket to irrelevant people, nor will I put it in my nose to eat. I'm sober and rational ... it's not true. You have a heart, but you don't have it now. Your true heart is covered and buried by six dusts, and your superficial false heart is fragmented, powerless and ineffective. Why? Because you lack a complete and unified heart-you will deny your decision yesterday; What you decide to do in the morning, don't do it in the afternoon. Your reason is often at war with emotion, desire and morality, and your heart is contradictory, not unified and complete.

Therefore, to practice, we must first repair this fragmented and fragmented surface consciousness, but we don't need to really repair it. If the superficial consciousness is good, the Buddha would not say that the heart is the root of evil; Da Yumo wouldn't say that people are afraid of danger. Therefore, the surface consciousness is the object we want to cultivate; Not only should it be repaired, but most of it should be discarded. First of all, we must have a complete and unified surface consciousness, open a channel for it, let the original sincerity come out and dominate this unified surface consciousness. Only in this way can it be possible to cultivate the mind (behavior), otherwise it will be empty talk.

Second, the reasons why sincerity is buried and lost

Sincerity is buried, lost, lost and covered by the six dust, mainly because we don't recognize it, are not sure about it and don't cherish it. The reasons for the error are as follows:

(A) the heart for the form of service

People's busy life is to serve this body, and all our thoughts and motives are based on the body. The ancients said it was called "thinking from the body". Obviously, it is a stinking skin that is not eternal, worthless and stinks not long after death, but we have been serving it and being its slaves. Most people spend most of their time serving this body; Give it food and clothes. It's not beautiful at all Try to make it look better. All gains and losses, utilitarian pursuit, are for this body. Since the mind is the slave of the body, the original mind will be gradually forgotten, lost and sunk in illusion because of being ignored.

(B) the rise and fall of the world

Most people don't want to be the masters of their own affairs. Some people write their own biographies and say what they have done, which is a big talk. He didn't do it, it was arranged and forced by the surrounding environment. Just like Zhao Kuangyin, the yellow robe became an emperor; Another example is Li, who was pulled out from under the bed to be the director.

Most people do. 99.9% are not the masters of their own affairs, and life has no direction. They are all driven by the environment and have to do whatever they want. This is the ups and downs of the world. Times have changed, and his life has eroded away. Therefore, fortune tellers are very popular, and most people are doomed, and they can't get rid of their fate all their lives. In fact, most people refuse to be their own masters, and with the ups and downs of the world, the original sincerity is submerged and useless.

After reading the Four Disciplines, we know that people can be masters of their own affairs and can change and dominate their own destiny. The Buddhist scripture says, "When the seed changes, the root of life changes." As long as you advance, your essence changes, your quality improves, and stubborn iron suddenly turns into gold, and its value will naturally be different. The most important thing for us to cultivate our minds is to correct and change this point; If we don't change this point, it is impossible for people to become Buddhas, and it is impossible for them to stand out in the industrial sea of Wang Yang.

(3) accumulation of industry becomes an obstacle.

Industry is the sum of thoughts and actions, just like the performance of a company.

Why do you ask everyone to reflect? Because only those who truly reflect can know themselves. Why should everyone pay attention to before the age of six? You can reflect on yourself before you are six years old, and then you can reflect on yourself before you are born, so that you can prove that life is eternal and immortal, and this life is not unique. Here are a few people who can confirm this. If you refuse to reflect, karma will hinder your true nature and make you unable to become a Buddha and feel uncomfortable.

Since we have lost ourselves in the habit of pollution, only introspection and review can we understand how our personality is formed. What makes us have a tendency to destroy? If we are willing to reflect and repent, we can stop repeating our mistakes and stop our troubles and pains from continuing.

If we can reflect according to the essentials mentioned above, quietly reveal our internal problems, and do not seek utility, quick results and haste, we can reflect before the age of six; If you can't reflect on yourself, just wait quietly, wait for a year or two, and reflect on everything before you are six years old. Then, you will know who you are. Go forward and reflect, and you will know who you were in your last life; If you continue to reflect, you will be sentenced to death.

Fate is a truly magical force, which cannot be lost (the eyes and ears of heaven are easily lost). By then, I will know myself clearly; Whether you are from China or a foreigner, you can say that what was said in that area at that time was absolutely true. At the same time, you will affirm the eternity of life and cherish your own life. Therefore, there is no other way to break karma except introspection and repentance.

People who can really reflect on themselves have benefited from the law; Those who do not seriously reflect and repent will stop here and cannot move forward. I didn't invent introspection and repentance. I did it, too, and I did it really seriously. I told you that when I reflected on my mother giving birth to me, before I reflected on my mother not giving birth to me, I realized the true and eternal me.

Introspection, don't be impatient, don't be eager for quick success, be sincere, respect and be sincere, and you will succeed.

Lu, when people come out, if you don't do it, you will learn, and then you will be fooled. Pretend to be a celebrity and constantly use it as the material of delusion. After thinking about it, it will eventually come to pass.

(4) Obsessed with every stage.

As soon as we opened our eyes, we saw colorful things. If we don't block our ears, there are many different voices. We are used to clinging to these things, but forget that the earth is not eternal.

In fact, none of this is true. It's like a dream. If we refuse to wake up from our dreams, we are bound to get lost in the present (illusion). Sometimes when I look in the mirror, I doubt myself: Is this me? Am I like this? How could I be like this? Not only lost my heart, but also questioned my appearance and lost my intimacy.

Why is this happening? Because we are best at identifying with external illusions. Since we agree that it is not true, our hearts naturally become false. The so-called false heart is the birth and death of the heart; With the change of the environment, after reading, before reading, we are constantly born and sick. If you can't change your attachment to the external illusion, you can't practice and practice will not succeed.

(5) enter the yin at will.

Many people like fantasy and daydreaming. Sitting there thinking alone, the more you think about it, the more interesting it becomes; I can't help laughing at the thought of happy things. Sometimes, drawing a picture of the future for yourself will make you so excited that you can't sleep all night. The more I think about it, the more interesting it becomes. Just a cup of tea, a cigarette, always thinking! But tomorrow, when I go out, what I think is either forgotten or useless at all.

People who are used to thinking too much are mostly ugly; It doesn't look good. Yin Qi is too strong. The so-called five yin, if you think too much, you will fall into yin. The Zen sutra says, "Moer, don't go into the underworld!" " (Weishan is the meaning of Yangshan dialect, and orphan is the name of Yangshan), which means, don't think about it, ask you questions, answer if you can, and the answer will be wrong when you turn your head. Direct reaction is like pressing a button and the light comes on.

The main purpose of practice is to expose the dark side of the heart.

Modern people suffer from diseases of the times, the most common of which are neurasthenia and schizophrenia; Schizophrenia is disunity of will, thinking a lot and being unable to concentrate. What he thinks is often divorced from his work and has nothing to do with being a man and doing things. Over time, he will be schizophrenic due to neurasthenia. Therefore, people can't be delusional; If you want, you must have a single and distinct theme, concentrate on it, and never let go without drawing a conclusion. In this way, Zhuang Jingsi and careful use of thinking are the correct thinking. If you think rashly, you will only hurt yourself.

As soon as a person enters the haze, his mind begins to dim, he no longer feels bright, and his life is not cheerful. Of course, his heart is chaotic, disunited and divided. Spirit is the heart, a divided and disunited heart, which cannot be falsely repaired because it has no power.

(6) bind yourself.

If you want to practice, you don't have to give up your job or hide in the mountains. However, if you want to practice, you have to get rid of secular desires. All the lingering love, resentment, unforgettable memories and lingering dreams ... are bound in the cocoon of secular desires and bind themselves inside. Can't let go, uncomfortable, 90% are emotional factors. Some people have uneven career development because of family disharmony. I don't want the emperor shunzhi, but my feelings are at work. Wu Sangui's anger is a beauty, and jade makes the painting swallow charcoal ... These are all driven by hatred, which makes love and hate intertwined and makes a person lose his mind and embark on the road of destruction and destruction.

Love, positive and negative, positive feelings, is a feeling of everything; There is no me, only the universe and all beings. It is the heart of Buddha and Bodhisattva to integrate the ego into the universe and all beings. If you set yourself against all beings and the universe and selectively decide your love, hate, good and evil, it is the feelings of ordinary people and the gene of self-restraint. If we can't get rid of those feelings of love, hatred and bone erosion, and even many low-level interests, then we can't practice and practice will not succeed. This level is difficult to break through.

(7) deceive others and others.

I never know myself, I don't know how many bowls of rice I have eaten, I don't know how many burdens I can carry, and even talking for a long time is not something I have experienced or can do, but I ask others.

If you analyze what everyone said, at least six out of ten sentences are untrue. Whether you are a teacher, father or husband, what you say is often hypocritical, but you live in fantasy and are narcissistic.

People who have a strong desire to protect themselves will have unnecessary fears and feel unsafe, which are all manifestations of hypocrisy. The law is absolutely true, and people who live in falsehood are insulated from the law and do not correspond.

As soon as the Zen club was established, we put forward sincere respect and trust; Honesty is not hypocritical, respect is not contemptuous, slack, casual, carefree and serious.

He who talks too much will lose.

I like talking and I work hard. The more I talk about it, the more interesting it becomes. After that, I'll find An Xiang. An Xiang disappeared and slipped away. As the saying goes, if you talk too much, you will lose. If you make a mistake, you will lose your inner peace. How terrible! You must have had this experience, right? Just try it. If you talk too much, look back at your heart, and the peace will decrease or even disappear.

Therefore, a person who is interested in speaking can't practice. Speech is an obligation, not a right, nor a pleasure; It is absurd to regard speaking as a right or enjoyment. Some practitioners hang a sign on their chests that says "Don't talk"-holding a silent ring. A farmer said, "If you don't talk all your life, no one will sell you as a pig." Goode also said, "If you don't talk all your life, Yan people can't help you." So talking too much will destroy your original state of mind and make you lose your peace.

These factors mentioned above hinder our understanding of nature and our freedom and liberation. Therefore, you must know it and then throw it away, so that you can get started practicing. If the above eight factors are removed, it is the real "borrowing fakes to fix the truth". Put the fake ones in order, really don't need to be repaired, and realize themselves.

Third, how to pick up your lost heart?

Our hearts are blocked, buried and lost by these "shadows of the past". How can I find my lost heart? There are four points to note here:

(1) Intimacy

If you don't know what your heart is, you can't start. Where can you start? Nothing is clear in my heart. Isn't it a lie to say that you cultivate your mind? So, first of all, you should know your heart. The ancients said, "People know themselves." If you don't know yourself, isn't it a lie to talk about understanding others? How can I understand my heart?

First of all, we must reflect on the analysis. Just like peeling a banana tree, peel it layer by layer and see how our surface consciousness is formed. Peel it off layer by layer, and you will find out what it is and see the truth.

To "know the truth", there must be a way, and the most straightforward way is meditation; Meditation includes observing the mind and watching dialogues.

We have too many definitions of Zen. If there are too many definitions, there is no definition. What is Zen? People who don't understand Zen think it is mysterious, can't get in, and can't understand what the ancients said. After attending for two days, I felt that it was tasteless, so I didn't attend. What about mindfulness? I can't stand watching it. This heart is ugly, so I won't watch it. If we want to truly understand our hearts, we must first do a heartfelt introspection.

The second is meditation. Meditation must be intimate. If you feel strange, out of place and impatient, you won't succeed. Because you don't feel intimate, it means that you lack a contact agent. Without contacting the agent, there will be no integration. If you want to correspond to the law, you must first understand what meditation is.

Zen is nothing else; Zen is yourself. If you are not yourself, why do you want to participate? The purpose of meditation is to know yourself and find your lost self. In this case, you will say, that's too simple. In fact, there is nothing but self-awareness and self-discovery. The purpose of Zen is to complete the awakening of life.

Dongshan walked to the water's edge, saw his own shadow, and suddenly realized. He said, "Don't look for him. Stay away from me. I'm going alone today, and I can find every canal everywhere; " The canal is mine now, and I am not a canal now. I should wait to make an appointment. "

The ancients knew a lot about Dongshan, sang a lot and said a lot. We can understand these words at a glance. But after watching the singing and talking of the ancients, I was confused. Why don't you explain, but you understand, and after the finishing touch, you are confused? Because what he describes is only the original state of the heart, others can't find it from the truth and clues. Let's explain these words in a very popular way, which is not difficult to understand.

"Don't look for him"-"He" is not your other "He", "He" is something other than yourself, don't leave yourself to look for yourself.

"Far away from me"-far away, looking for yourself outside, far away and irrelevant.

"Today I am alone and can do anything"-I have no eyes, no ears, no tongue, no body, no thoughts, no sound, no smell and no touch, which is called "independence". If I remove these roots, I am "independent"; Since "independence" is unique, unique, then everything is nothing more than yourself, why not find ways everywhere!

"Today is me"-the word "Qu" is impersonal, reckless and inaction, and "Qu" refers to the true self.

"Today I am not a canal"-"I am the only one", and the true self that is alive and motionless is not an external, relative, binary and illusory self born of karma.

"You need to know each other before you can agree"-you have to go through this before you can agree with the truth.

Dong Shan's enlightenment was only about himself, but he didn't realize any great truth. Therefore, the real enlightenment is to know and affirm yourself, find your lost self and complete the awakening of life.

Therefore, to cultivate the mind, we must first know what the heart is. Meditators are only knowing themselves from beginning to end, and there is no correct purpose of practice except knowing themselves.

(2) control the heart

Buddha said, "With a heart, you can do anything."

As far as worldly law is concerned, if you are willing to put all your feelings, reason and energy into something, a problem, study or work, and let it form a focus, the spark of wisdom will come out of generate at that focus, making life glow.

Zhang Taiyan was reading a book at night, and her sister sent a plate of fried rice cakes and sugar. As a result, he dipped the rice cake in a plate of ink and ate it unconsciously. This is eating without knowing its taste. If you can't focus on this aspect, you can't give full play to your life potential, and you will fail yourself and bury yourself. You have great strength, but you haven't concentrated. Anyone who only puts his thoughts and spirit into it, not his emotions, is invalid. It will be hard work and it will be your punishment. If you invest in "emotion", it is a kind of enjoyment.

Watt is in the lab. His family gave him two eggs and told him to cook them when he was hungry. When he wanted to eat an egg, he found it was a pocket watch.

Edison forgot his name when he paid taxes; Lost his new wife on a honeymoon trip; Concentrate on your studies and don't look at the clock; Keep two cats, open two holes ... it seems that his IQ is zero. In fact, he is useless. He concentrated all his energy, wisdom and feelings on the work he loved.

Wang Mian, a boy herding cattle, has never read a book. The lotus he painted became a temporary treasure, and princes and ministers competed for it, because the lotus he painted gave life to the lotus on paper.

Buddhism says that "love breeds wisdom", and if love persists for a lifetime, it will form a barrier to prajnaparamita wisdom; However, if you are naturally intelligent, you will have compassion and great motivation.

A place that controls its own thoughts will have an innovative effect on the laws of the world, and so will practice. There is so-called convenience in Buddhism. What is convenience? For example, the Sixteen Classics tells you to concentrate on one thing, a scene. Tantric Buddhism tells people to read the word seed. The fifth ancestor asked people to see the moon wheel. Yoga practitioners call on people to watch candles, incense and incense. Taoist alchemy tells people to keep a clear head —— Reflections on Tian Dan's viewpoint. Like these, it is a convenience, the purpose is to teach people to "heart-to-heart"; Concentrate your heart on a focus, and then you can exert the power of your heart and complete self-breakthrough-self-liberation.

For Zen Buddhism, it is characterized by its unique methods-self-uniqueness, Buddha's life and uniqueness of color and heart ... If we can be unique, we can eliminate all opposition and binary fallacies, thus conforming to reality.

(3) Changxing

A monk (Shi Yan) often talks to himself: "Hero! (answer: yes! ) hey! When he is the day after tomorrow, don't be rude. " Being awake is to lift your spirits and stay awake. This is very helpful for us to understand this little story. He means: hero! Be your own master and stay awake. He shouldn't be fooled by others, that is, he shouldn't be fooled in the future. . Is a fool, what is a fool?

It is a fool to hit you with a stick. "Don't move your tongue, tell your parents what they did before they died!" I'm fooling you, too For a real Zen master, these are unnecessary things! There is no need to say that there is nothing, and that God says there is a ghost. This is all a lie. The most important thing for a yogi is to keep a clear head, always be alert and not be confused. The Bible also says, "Don't sleep! Stop dreaming! "

(4) You can give up

Many people learn Buddhism in the wrong direction, and do it backwards, just wanting to get it; Just like when Liang met Mencius, he asked, "What's good for me if you come?"

Buddhism should be able to give up: big house, small hut, not forced. Some people go to worship Buddha: seeking wealth, wealth, peace and health from Buddha ... Buddha only gives up and does not ask for it. This teacher, Sakyamuni Buddha, gave up all his property, his power, his wife and son, his luxuries and luxuries ... all, all. Afraid that others will hinder him from giving up, sneaking away and getting rid of it.

Goode said, "Just put it down." If you can't let go of fame, profit, body and love, it is impossible to learn Buddhism. It should be noted that "a drop in the spring will yield ten thousand grains in the autumn". If you don't give up in spring, where will you get the harvest in autumn? We are lost because of greed, greed and death ... We are lost because of "greed"! And degenerate! Therefore, we must rely on "giving up" to gain sobriety and freedom.

Zhao Zhou said, "When I was eighteen, I broke my family and scattered my wealth." To break the family fortune is to give up. Pang Yun, a layman and scholar, refused to do it, and even his fortune sank to the bottom of the river, weaving bamboo baskets with his wife and children for a living. Why didn't he go to the temple to support him? Because giving money to others is not necessarily merit.

Completely is to lay down your life. There is a saying in Zongmen that "give up on the cliff", and everything will be given up! The so-called "pull back from the cliff, be willing to do it, never return to the Soviet Union, and you can't bully the king." You are willing to give up, because you are willing to bear, bear what? Suppose the universe is me! If you are sure of this, you will give up. If you are not sure that the universe is me, will you give up? Never again-a new life has appeared. From then on, no matter what truth or Buddhism others say, they can't deceive you, so they can't bully you.

Fourth, the method of cultivating the mind.

Don't talk too much, don't talk too much, this is not a law. The real law has only four words: heaven and earth, self-respect, self-examination and sincerity. Remember these four sentences firmly, which is the key to cultivating the mind, the key to cultivating the mind. Don't misunderstand that "I am the only one" refers to the giant Buddha, which has nothing to do with me.

Someone asked the cloud gate in the Record of Fingering the Moon, "When the Buddha was born, he took seven steps and pointed to the sky and the ground, saying," I am the only one in the world. "What do you think?" Cloud Gate said, "If I were here, I would have killed the dog with a stick earlier." After Yunmen said this, some people wondered if he was a Buddhist disciple. If it is a Buddha, why is it against the principle to kill a dog with a stick?

An old monk said, "Yunmen is really grateful." Because cloud gate really knows that heaven and earth are unique, so it says so. If he doesn't understand, he can't say such things. Because, only by killing him, I will be more exclusive. What does "exclusive" mean? It is not that Buddha is exclusive, but that everyone's ID is exclusive.

Someone asked: What does it mean to be unique in the world?

A: The speaker. What language is it? Send a message to who? Send a message to the legal profession.

If you are "self-centered", you will succeed. Because the Buddha was born, he said these eight words when he first said it: however, everyone ignored the original intention of "heaven and earth are one" If everyone can do it without ignoring it, it will be no problem to become a Buddha. The emphasis is on the word "independence". "Heaven and Earth" represents infinite time and space. "Self-respect" is freedom: not being with anything, not being with color, sound, fragrance and taste, not being with thoughts, not being with consciousness, not being with anything, is self-respect; If you are associated with something, it is not "independence" or "respect".

What is peace of mind? If you look at your heart, you will look at yourself, and if you are familiar, you will look at yourself. Baoren is also looking at himself. If the concept of Heart Sutra is put behind everything, it will be easier to understand.

..... No eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind, no sound, no smell, no touch; A world without vision, even unconsciousness; There is no ignorance, no ignorance, even no old age, and no old age; No pains, no wisdom, no gains.

There is nothing, just a bodhisattva. It is clearer to put the concept of freedom here, because there is neither the tool to contact the outside world nor the real existence of the outside world; Seeing oneself at ease, apart from seeing oneself at ease, apart from the circle of eternal life, there is no reason, matter, mind or thing.

Descartes said, "I think, therefore I am." A little rough, and then a little more detailed, that is, "I feel therefore I am."

The sixth ancestor said, "There was no mouth when I came." This is an order to mention all this.

"Keeping the original heart", the Five Ancestors particularly emphasized keeping the original heart all their lives. If you don't keep it, you will lose. For example, if you take a child to the street, you have to keep him. If you don't keep him, you'll get lost on foot! When you look at your heart, guard your work, understand your heart and recognize your heart, if you don't keep a stage at the beginning to make "the place where you were born become familiar and the familiar place become lively", you will still be lost.

Now that you know that your heart is the most respected and precious thing, the most direct and intimate thing to you, you should cherish it and hold it tightly, instead of going outside to find some irrelevant and useless waste knowledge to add to the dust of the law, and find some irrelevant reasons to ridicule the situation, wasting time and life. It should be noted that "although gold tablets are expensive, they are also ill." Since you can't put gold powder in your eyes, you can't put anything in your heart. So, keep your heart, keep your true heart; The true heart is your true heart, an unpolluted heart and a dusty Lord. If you catch it, it will not be lost again. If you have a desire to seek outside, it is called "abandoning your father and fleeing" and "cherishing your treasure and losing your country". As the ancients said, "It is always foolish to be outside Kubote." He also said: "I am greedy for the end of the world, but I lost my pearl." Watch your step!

The essentials of nourishing the heart have been briefly explained above, with illness in front and medicine behind. If you can always be "comfortable" and "exclusive", everything is mine. You don't need to look at it, but you can get rid of it. You can melt four sentences into your self-observation (self-awareness).
