Where is General Yang Si Temple?

Yang Si General Temple is a cultural relic protection unit in Guangzhou.

Yang Si Jiangjun Temple, located in Danshuikeng Scenic Area, Guangzhou, was built in the 31st year of Guangxu reign of Qing Dynasty (A.D. 1905), which is quite characteristic of Lingnan. Reconstructed on 1995. Covering an area of 1.200 mu, the scenic spot is one of the emerging scenic spots in Guangzhou. The location is excellent.

Yang Si (yangsi) was born in Changsha, Hunan Province in the Song Dynasty. Legend has it that he became a god at the age of seven, beheaded the dragon and made it a general, which can save water and drive away epidemics. The Yangtze River basin is full of worshippers. The plague in Guangzhou spread to Cai Gang in the late Qing Dynasty. Xu of Honggang Village led thirteen villagers to Jiangxi on foot for more than ten days and invited them to drive back the epidemic. Later, the villagers built a temple to worship and pray for good luck and a long life. Lv Zu (Chunyang), fairy sister Yunshan and fairy mother Jinshan are also enshrined in the temple.

If you have seen the statue of General Yang Si, you will be surprised to find that General Yang Si is obviously a child of eight or nine years old! Yes, General Yang Si was a nine-year-old child when he became immortal.

Legend has it that General Yang Si's parents died when he was a child, and he lived with his brother and sister-in-law. He ranks fourth in the family, so everyone calls him Yang Si.

Yang Si was very playful since he was a child. When his brother and sister-in-law ask him to help with some housework, they always want to play outside. Therefore, his brother and sister-in-law complained about him.

When he was nine years old, he found a lost dragon king's forehead while playing outside. He can't put it down. He plays with it in his hand every day.

One day, the weather was fine, and his sister-in-law picked out the millet at home to dry in case it went bad. In order to prevent it from being spoiled by the chickens at home, Yang Si was asked to look after it. However, Yang Si has no intention of staying. He is bent on going out to play.

So, my sister-in-law just walked away and gave a cry; "Sister-in-law, it's going to rain, come and collect the millet!" Because he held the dragon king's forehead in his hand and shouted, the sky changed immediately, and the clouds were gathering, as if it was really going to rain. So his sister-in-law hurried out of the house. But when she ran to Shaiguping, it cleared up again.

When his sister-in-law saw that the weather turned fine, she stopped collecting millet and continued to bask in the sun. After my sister-in-law left, Yang Si did the same thing again. After repeated several times, I finally made my sister-in-law angry. Sister-in-law called Yang Si lazy and deliberately made trouble here.

Picked up the rake to dry the millet and gave Yang Si a hand. Yang Si had no time to dodge, fell to the ground and died on the spot.

After Yang Si's death, the Jade Emperor saw that he died pitifully. At an early age, he was destined to pick up the lost forehead of the Dragon King and make him a little general. Because his name is Yang Si, everyone calls him General Yang Si.

General Yang Si, not from Guangzhou, was originally a fairy in a temple in Hunan. At that time, Shenshan Temple did not have its own immortals. General Yang Si's trip to Shenshan Temple also smacks of myths and legends.

About 200 years ago, most people in Shidiyuan made a living by selling rush grass. Once, a younger brother and younger sister went to a place to sell lamp grass.

Selling lamps and herbs is a small business, and it doesn't make much money. When he arrived, it was already evening, so he went to a temple for the night.

When he slept until midnight, a fairy told him a dream: he said that he was unhappy in this temple, could not enjoy any incense and had no position. He is willing to go to Shenshan Temple in Shidi Garden with him.

Every two days early in the morning, after he woke up, he immediately bowed to the large and small fairy statues placed on the throne and said; Dear fairies, who asked me for a dream last night? If you want to go to Shenshan Temple in Shidi Garden with me.

Please pour it on my laundry list so that I can take you away. As soon as the words were finished, a fairy statue fell straight into the laundry list. He is General Yang Si.

I picked up this idol with a laundry list and rushed home quietly. When the villagers found an idol missing, a large group of people caught up with them from behind. Just as they were about to catch up, the weather suddenly clouded over and soon it began to rain heavily. They found the pouring rain just above their heads, but the sky in front of them was sunny. The villagers realized that this was what the fairy meant, so they stopped. In this way, General Yang Si successfully came to Shidi Garden and became the "master" of Shenshan Temple.

When General Yang Si came to the Wetland Park, he heard that it really brought good weather to the Wetland Park. At that time, if you wanted to ask for rain, all you had to do was take a bath in the reservoir with the statue of General Yang Si, and you could do it right away.
