Was Yao called Yao from the beginning?

People, legends, stories. Some of these legends and stories are about national heroes, while others are about ordinary people. There are the Eight Kings of Tofu (also known as the Eighteen Tang Dynasties), the King of Ganji, the Fairy of Fangsha, and Tang Ergui who killed tigers. And Zhao Jinlong and so on. In these legends and stories, heroes are shaped into gods with great power, which embodies the spirit of struggle of the Yao people for survival and peace, not afraid of violence and daring to resist.

Monster story. The Yao cards are widely circulated, such as: Lao Chop Carp Essence, Tang Dynasty Zodiac Fighting Devils, Civet Cat, Bao Hammer, Frog Egg, etc. Yaoshan has "Millennium Sitting" and "Lazy Classic". This kind of story has the characteristics of magic and religious belief. These stories reveal the ugly souls of those who are insidious, cunning, lazy and hate work, and enthusiastically praise the virtues of those who are honest, hardworking and brave.

Love story. Pai Yao has stories of long drums, turtledoves and partridges, birds' clothes, Chai Lang and fairies, pangolins and so on. Guo has a fortune-telling story, Ge Erniang's wisdom story of taking money, the story of thieves and widows, etc. These stories reflect the Yao youth's spirit of pursuing freedom of marriage and being faithful to love.

Animal and plant stories. Exorcism includes why pheasants blush, why grasshoppers complain, why cows can't talk, why bitter gourd skins are pitted, why dogs drive cats away, and so on. And Tiger and Sparrow and so on. According to the ecological characteristics of animals, plants, etc., this kind of story explains a truth from philosophy by anthropomorphic method, which is of great educational significance.

Local landscape legends. There are many legends about mountains and rivers in Yao area. Pai Yao includes the legend of Pingyao Mountain, Huang Geng, Fuzi Mountain and Weishan Mountain. There are legends of Fenggang Temple, White Temple and Huanglian Village in Yaoshan. This kind of legends, in terms of content, have resisted feudal rule, reflected national history, reflected people's feelings and customs, and so on.
