What units does the Bureau of Industry and Information Technology mainly manage?

The main responsibilities of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology are: to formulate and implement industry planning, industrial policies and standards; Monitor the daily operation of industrial departments; Promote the development of major technical equipment and independent innovation; Manage the communication industry; Guide and promote information construction; Coordinate and maintain national information security.

As an industry management department, it is mainly responsible for planning, policies and standards, guiding the development of the industry, but does not interfere with the production and business activities of enterprises. Among the national key universities, there are 7 universities directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and 5 universities jointly established by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology retains the brand names of the National Space Administration and the National Atomic Energy Agency, participates in international intergovernmental organizations and related activities such as the International Space Organization and the International Atomic Energy Agency on behalf of the country, and performs related duties. Entrusted the State Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense to undertake the relevant work of the the State Council the Central Military Commission (CMC) Special Committee.
