What did the crow do when it was born?

It should be said that ancient China people didn't understand science, believed in astrology and many unusual phenomena in nature, and thought that great events would happen if the sky was abnormal. For example, when you were born, you met animals such as Kirin, dragon and Millennium tortoise, and predicted that you would have an extraordinary life after this person. But if you meet a crow at birth, it is generally considered an ominous sign. Today we are going to talk about an ominous woman, who covered the sky for three days and three nights with crows flying all over the sky. She is Empress Dowager Cixi, a woman who ruled the Qing Dynasty for nearly fifty years.

In the historical book "Shuntian Fuzhi", it is recorded that "Daoguang is fifteen years old, and the crows gather in October, and they will not leave for three days." It was on the tenth day of the tenth lunar month in the fifteenth year of this light that Cixi came to this world. It is said that Cixi at that time was not like a normal and healthy child at all. She didn't even cry for three days and nights. The family thought that she had a dumb child or was born with a strange disease. Just when the baby was acting strangely, many crows began to fly in the backyard of Cixi's house, and gradually more and more crows covered the sky. Cixi didn't cry for three days and nights, and crows kept flying over the yard, moaning.

Not only the backyard of Cixi's house, but also crows flew over the Forbidden City, flying around the sea and the South China Sea of the Forbidden City. Many people in Beijing saw this group of black crows, and even fortune tellers said that grave robbers in the Qing Dynasty were born and the Qing Dynasty was coming. However, Daoguang doesn't think this scene is a bad omen. Instead, he is very happy. He held a grand banquet in his palace and invited his ministers to the banquet for three days.

The banquet was held only because Daoguang was Manchu and they believed in Shamanism. In shamanism, crow is a bird of god and a symbol of good luck. Moreover, in the legend of Jurchen, crows also saved their ancestors, so Manchu people regard crows as auspicious signs. With so many crows hovering around the Forbidden City, Daoguang thought that something would happen once in a century, so he gave a big banquet.

Unfortunately, Daoguang didn't know that what he thought auspicious was the birth of a woman who pushed the Qing Dynasty to extinction. As she grew older, Cixi became more and more beautiful. Cixi's grandfather was a government official, and she was influenced by Confucianism since she was a child. She knows all about the philosophy of chess, calligraphy, painting and poetry. Subsequently, this outstanding woman successfully became the son of Daoguang, the favorite concubine of Xianfeng, and gave birth to an only son for Xianfeng.

Unfortunately, it was this only son who became the stepping stone for Cixi to take power. After Xianfeng's death, Cixi staged a coup, mastered the ruling power of the Qing Empire, and began her 47-year rule of the Qing Dynasty. During these 47 years, Cixi successfully missed the opportunity to make China rise as a world power again and again, and went further and further on the road of depravity, which eventually led to the demise of the dynasty.
