The origin of Xiangcheng Lianxian

Xiangcheng Lianxian is a fairy in ancient myths and legends in China, and there are also records about her in the seventy-six Stories of Seclusion in the History of the South.

Legend has it that the Lotus Fairy is the daughter of the Emperor of Heaven. She went down to earth privately and married a mortal named Oulang. The Emperor of Heaven was furious when he learned this, and demoted the Lotus Fairy to the mortal world, making her suffer on earth.

The lotus fairy has suffered a lot on earth, but she still keeps a kind heart. She passed on the medical skills and herbal knowledge she learned in heaven to the local people to help treat diseases. In order to thank her for her kindness and medical skills, the local people built a temple for her after her death, named Lianxian Temple, and set her birthday on April 24 of the lunar calendar as Lianxian's birthday.
