The more the "Snow Mountain Prince" in Buddhism knows, the better, such as past lives and so on.

With the snow-capped mountains.

Said by: Ding, A Dictionary of Buddhism.

Release the name of practicing bodhisattva in the past. Also known as snow mountain tuas and snow mountain brahmins. In order to live in the snow-capped mountains and practice, it has this name. The fourteenth volume of Nirvana Sutra records that Shi Zun used to be a Brahmin, living in the snow-capped mountains and practicing bodhisattva. At that time, Shi Tihuan turned into a statue of Luo Cha, and went to the snow-capped mountains to preach what the Buddha had said in the past, that is, "impermanence is the law of birth and death". The Buddha was very happy to hear the second half of the melody and wanted to hear it very much. But Luo Cha said that he was forced by hunger and suffering and needed to eat people to warm his meat. Only after drinking human blood could he continue to speak the second half of the melody. Shi Zun is willing to give his life for the second half of the story, while Luo Cha is willing to give his life for the second half. After listening to this poem, the master wrote it on the wall, tree, etc. Then climb a big tree and jump in. At this time, Luo Cha also put himself down from the throne, held the Buddha in the air and put it on the ground. Shi Tihuan and all the people in the sky fell at the feet of the Buddha, saying that the Buddha would achieve three virtues and three bodhis in the future. Because he gave his life for half a week, the master had to go beyond the twelve-robbery practice period and become a Buddha before Maitreya.

Also, similar to this story, there is Bensheng Tan, the king of beauty described in the fourth volume of Hundred Boundaries. He said that when he respected the past as the king of beauty, he gave up his life in Rocha, and Rocha was transformed by Indra. According to the article "Zhang Wu Guo Na" in the third volume of "Records of the Western Regions of Datang", this is the place where the Tathagata died.

The story of snow mountain boy

There is a Taoist seeker named Snow Mountain Boy who is willing to work hard, sacrifice himself and practice all kinds of asceticism as long as it is beneficial to the crowd. Because of his style, he can be reasonable and see through the inside and outside of life. At the same time, he knows what life and death are. Therefore, no matter what treasures are on the ground and on the seabed, he doesn't look at them, just as dust and is indifferent. His heart only seeks the road. To this end, he is determined to give up his property, his wife and children, his house, his servants and all other things, even his body. He abandoned everything in the world and didn't want to reach the earth in heaven. He just wanted to concentrate on monasticism, enlightenment and experience the real pleasure of life.

Unexpectedly, Indra expressed deep doubts about the attitude and determination of the Snow Mountain boy. Indra thinks:

"As long as the Buddha is in the world, people and life can relieve all troubles and get infinite happiness? In fact, there are many people who seek Tao, but it can be said that no one has become a Buddha. Although many people are willing to be kind, they are usually a little considerate and troublesome, and kindness disappears immediately and returns to the original state. Just as the moon in the water shakes with the fluctuation of the water surface, just as it is difficult to become a famous painting, but it is easy to be damaged, so is kindness? It is hard to lose, but it is easy to lose. The world is often determined and wants to be kind. Once faced with the dilemma of life and death, kindness will disappear. This is a very common example. Now, although the snow mountain boy is working hard, he has no worries for the time being and tries to be clean, but it is still unbelievable. I might as well try his determination and see if he can achieve it. Because the car has two wheels, it can be used freely; Birds can only fly in the sky if they have wings. Isn't Walker real? No matter how strict the precepts are, if the practitioner has no true wisdom, there will be results. Wealth and wisdom are like two wheels of a car. For another example, although there are countless fish eggs in the fetus of a female fish, very few can really develop and grow. Similarly, people who are willing to be kind can be seen everywhere, but few people can carry it through. It is said that pure gold must be tested by burning, beating and grinding to judge its authenticity. Now, why not use these three schemes to test the boys in the snow-capped mountains? 」

Indra became the murderous Luo Cha that everyone feared, and descended from the sky to the snow-capped mountains. He went to the snowy mountain boy who sought truth through asceticism. Snow Mountain boy is fearless, eloquent and able to deal with it calmly.

"All impermanence, is the method of birth and death. 」

Horrible evil spirits shouted at Buddha's words in the past. The ascetic monk was overjoyed when he heard this half sentence. It's like a tourist who lost his companion in the deep mountains and panicked. Found a companion; It is also like getting lost in the dark and looking for a companion in the distance; Or like drowning in the sea and accidentally meeting a boat; Or like a thirsty man, he found a spring. In short, the ascetic monk is very happy inside. Indeed, everything is impermanent, and all beings have birth and death. This is the truth he wants to pursue. He thinks, "Isn't this the voice from heaven?" He immediately stood up and asked, "Who said that poem just now? 」

Although he glance left and right, but in addition to the terrible Luo Cha, can't see any figure. The ascetic thought: Who will open the door for me and let me get rid of the troubles of the Three Realms? I really appreciate it. All sentient beings are circulating in the world of life and death, only to find that an awakened one has uttered such a poem. Who among all sentient beings can teach us the supreme mystery of Buddhism and Taoism? Who is the helmsman of the sea of life and death? Can that famous doctor cure paranoia all over the world? Who can say a poem, project the light of consciousness into his heart, and let the lotus blossom in my heart? Looking around, there is no one but Luo Cha.

However, Luo Cha wouldn't say such grateful words. But to say the least, maybe this is what Luo Cha said. Did Luo Cha ever see the Buddhas or listen to a poem?

If the monkey thought of this, he decided to ask the terrible Luo Cha a question.

"tuas! Where did you come from for the half poem mentioned by previous Buddhas? This half sentence means that the past life, this life and the afterlife are consistent and the correct truth of the Buddha. All sentient beings in the world are often bound in their hearts and spend their lives in evil, refusing to listen to the past buddhas. Tadashi! Where have you heard of such a precious half? 」

"Brahman! What's the use of asking me these questions? I haven't eaten for several days and am in a state of fasting. I've been foraging around day and night, and I still find nothing. Now I am hungry and upset to say that boring sentence. You always want that half. What do I know? You don't have to talk to me about these problems anymore. I just hope there is food! 」

"tuas! If you can tell the full text of this poem, I will make you the master of my life. Tadashi! What you just said is incomplete and unreasonable. Just a few words. Why? The wealth given to the world is limited, but the benefits of teaching Buddhism and Taoism are endless. Although I only heard half a poem, it was enough to make me feel grateful. Would you please say the second half again? Please say the second half ... "

"Brahman, your wisdom is awesome. However, it is selfish to think only of your own business. I tell you, I am hungry and tired now, and I have no strength to talk about the second half. "

"tuas, what do you want to eat? Please speak quickly. 」

"You'd better not ask about it. Do you have to say it from my mouth? Such a terrible thing may scare you! 」

"You said it would be scary. In fact, there is no one here except me. Besides, I'm not afraid of anything. Tell me, what do you want to eat? 」

"I want to eat human flesh barbecue and drink human blood. My morality is very shallow. I only know how to eat human flesh and drink human blood. Helpless, in addition to being blessed, all beings in the world can also get all kinds of guardians from heaven. So, I can't kill them on my own. I wandered around here all day looking for food. So far, I have found nothing, hungry and thirsty. 」

"tuas, I see. If I can hear the second half, I would like to dedicate my body to you. Even if you save your life temporarily, your body will be swallowed up by wolves, tigers, birds and eagles after death. As a result, there is no good news. If I can seek enlightenment, I am willing to give up this filthy body and get a clean body. 」

"Don't you really want to give up your body for the second half of the horoscope? Willing to give up your body and say it so that no one will believe it. 」

"You are ignorant. If you can get the seven treasures by giving up the earthenware, then everyone is willing to give up the earthenware. I've always wanted to give up my filthy body in exchange for Buddha's body. I didn't expect you to believe what I said. I want to show you a great witness. Brahma, Indra and Four Kings can probably give me a witness? Besides, can all the bodhisattvas with their eyes turned to the sky give me a guarantee? Can buddhas who benefit all beings also give me a guarantee? 」

"Since you say so, I believe you. If you are willing to give me your body, I will tell you the second half. 」

Hearing Luo Cha's words, the Snow Mountain boy rekindled his hope of seeking Tao. Then, he took off his deerskin clothes, spread it into a throne, and respectfully said to Luo Cha, "Please sit down, please sit down!" Then, crossing his knees, beg him to tell the second half of the poem:

"Now, please tell me the second half. 」

At that time, Luo Cha seriously spoke the second half of the poem:

"If you ignore life and death, you can enjoy the silence. 」

Then, instead, Luo Cha urged the Snow Mountain boy:

"Brahman, you have heard the full text of this poem, and you have got it. Then you must keep your promise and give me your body. 」

The boy on the snowy mountain was even more delighted when he heard the second half.

"In a world where life and death are impermanent, as long as you wander on the opposite of life and death, you can't get real peace of mind and satisfaction. Only by transcending life and death and being in an absolute crying state without life and death troubles can we have real happiness and real consciousness. 」

Although the snowy mountain boy suddenly realized that he would give his body without hesitation, he later thought that such a death, even if he had no complaints, would not be good for the world. Therefore, he wants to pass on this poem-"All impermanence is the law of life and death, life and death of oneself, silence is joy" forever. No matter the rocks or walls, trees or roadside in the distance, just reach out and write this poem at once, and then climb the tree in your clothes. The tree god doesn't understand why he wants to climb a tree. So he asked him:

"What are you doing? 」

"I abandoned my own body. I have one. 」

"For a 16-character poem? Is this poem really that valuable? 」

"That's a very valuable poem. Although there are only 16 words, it is the teachings of all buddhas throughout past lives's afterlife. I died for this law, not for fame, greed, wealth, wheel holiness, Indra and Brahma. The only expectation is to benefit all beings in the world and lay down one's life for it. 」

As expected, this half week, he kept his promise and jumped down from the tree in despair.

However, before his body landed, he suddenly felt something soft holding him in midair.

Originally, the horrible Luo Cha restored the true colors of Indra, grabbed him with the Buddha's heart, gently put him on the ground, and then stood in front of him respectfully, arms crossed, and sincerely admired:

"You are a real bodhisattva. For all sentient beings in the world, as well as those who are not enlightened in delusion, the Buddha's Dharma is needed. Because of this, I love the teachings of the Buddha. Please listen to my heartfelt admiration. Please treat me when I am enlightened in the future. 」

At that time, for this half sentence, the snowy mountain teenager who gave his life for asceticism and seeking Tao is now free. This attitude of giving up half a week is the best example of a Buddhist learner.
