Extended data:

Chinese dialects in Hubei Province mainly include Southwest Mandarin, Jianghuai Mandarin (Chu dialect) and Gan dialect, among which Southwest Mandarin is the main dialect, which not only covers two-thirds of the province's area and population, but also distributes in the vast areas of neighboring provinces such as Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Yunnan, Hunan and Guangxi.

In southeastern Hubei, near Xianning, Daye and Yangxin in Jiangxi, Liang Zihu speaks Gan dialect, which is officially called Datong film.

Jianghuai dialect is popular in huangpi district, Xinzhou District, Xiaogan and Huanggang in eastern Hubei, which is officially called Huang Xiaopian and is also called Chu dialect among the people.

Gan dialect and Jianghuai dialect are weak dialects in Hubei. Part of Jianghuai dialect, represented by Huangpi dialect, has been assimilated by Wuhan dialect, the southwest mandarin. Jianghuai dialect in the north belongs to the same branch as Jianghuai dialect in Xinyang, Henan Province, and gradually moves closer to Putonghua. The Gan dialect in Xianning City has also been seriously eroded by Wuhan dialect, the southwest mandarin.
