Taihang Mountain in Li Feiping
1941May, Taihang Industrial School (now north university of china) was formally established, with Li Feiping as the director of education and a part-time teacher. At that time, the Japanese invaders carried out at least three "big sweeps" every year. At the beginning of 1942, the enemy carried out a "sweeping" at the end of the year, targeting the Huangyadong Arsenal. At that time, the industrial school had been safely transferred to Baisilang Village, Licheng County. Arsenal workers buried the machine and moved it away, but a large number of explosives and steel wires were still in Huangya Cave, which comrades risked their lives to get from enemy-occupied areas, and were extremely scarce materials in the base areas. Mr. Peng instructed that the equipment must be moved out. The Ministry of Military Industry decided that the industrial school would transfer 100 comrades with good politics and strong body, with party member as the backbone, to form a combat team and return to Huangyadong to rush to transport this batch of materials. Time was pressing, so Li Feiping led a team to climb the mountain and arrived at Huangyadong in the middle of the night. Regardless of fatigue, everyone came out from the south gate of Huangyadong with valuables on their backs. A suspension bridge that had to be crossed was destroyed by the enemy. The combat team had to use long ropes to bind people and materials from the cliff shore more than ten meters high. At dawn, they successfully completed the task of getting through.
Taihang Technical School experienced the hardest and most difficult period in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, and trained more than 400 management cadres and military industrial technical cadres for the base areas. We did everything ourselves. It can be said that this is a pioneering work in the history of military education in China. In the early days of national liberation, these cadres went to large and medium-sized cities all over the country and became a backbone force on the industrial front.
On August 1945, Japan announced its unconditional surrender. In September, Jiaozuo City, Henan Province, which was occupied by the Japanese army, was recovered by our army and was under the jurisdiction of the Eighth Taihang Division of the Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan Military Region. Jiaozuo, which was recovered soon, is very unstable. Xinxiang, not far away, is the stronghold of the Kuomintang army. They may seize the city at any time and devour the fruits of victory. In this case, the Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan Military Region decided to quickly transport some equipment of Jiaozuo industrial and mining enterprises to Changzhi City, Shanxi Province, where the situation is stable, so as to enrich the ordnance production in Taihang. Li Feiping was ordered to go to Jiaozuo to mobilize the masses to quickly organize the rush. It's 2 10 km from Jiaozuo to Changzhi, and it's difficult to climb dozens of hills. The mountain road is rugged, the road is far and steep, and some steep slopes are 45 degrees. What's more, there are many low culverts and dilapidated wooden bridges along the way. Culverts are obstacles to transporting tall equipment, and broken bridges are obstacles to heavy equipment. Coupled with the harassment of bandits on the way, it seems impossible to safely transport heavy and high equipment to Changzhi. However, Li Feiping believes that it is necessary to accomplish this task no matter how difficult it is. He led the assembled army of technicians and migrant workers to brainstorm, and Qi Xin worked together, side by side, sleeping soundly during the long transportation. Eat dry food and drink ice water, and Qi Xin will work together and unite as one. Use various methods to compete with the enemy for time and speed, and transport the equipment safely to Changzhi before the enemy is destroyed.
The Ministry of Military Industry used these equipment to build new power plants and armed various artillery shell processing plants. Later, Li Feiping was sent to the chemical plant (No.7 Ordnance Factory, producing antimony oxide, mercuric chloride and glycerin explosives) as the director. Sulfur and mirabilite are important raw materials for making gunpowder and explosives. In order to ensure the supply of military production, the Ministry of Military Industry sent Li Feiping to the North China Nitrosulfonate General Administration as the deputy director, responsible for organizing the production and procurement of sulfur and mirabilite. Li Feiping's process from ignorance to understanding is a process of continuous learning, assiduous study and humbly seeking advice. This spirit of learning and studying laid the foundation of his life's steel career.
