Introduction to Omega Centauri

Omega Centauri Cluster is located in Centauri. Centauri is one of the most dazzling constellations in the southern sky. The Milky Way flows through this vast sky. Surprisingly, it includes Alpha Centauri, the closest star to the sun, and Omega Centauri, the largest globular cluster in our galaxy. The photo on the left was taken by the newly upgraded Hubble Space Telescope at the Omega Centauri Center. This gorgeous image of the Omega Centauri wide-area telescope shows a cluster of about 65,438+0,000 stars surrounded by stars, including very dim dust clouds and distant background galaxies. At the same time, we can see many dim yellow and white stars, which are smaller than our sun. Some yellow and orange stars are red giants, and there are blue stars. When two stars collide, they will neither merge to form a larger star nor combine to form a new binary system. Close binary stars attract each other, and sometimes when the gas emitted by one star reaches the surface of another close companion star (white dwarf or neutron star), it will emit ultraviolet rays or X-rays. Such a binary star is located at the center of the Omega Centauri cluster. The cluster is located in Centauri, about1.500 million light years away.
